Hi Maria,
This poem is sadder than sad and probably most of us have all been there at one time or another. You have even found the perfect artwork to accompany the writing. Thank goodness the one thing we know is that life does change.
Congrats on your Gold Certificate!

Maria: great thoughts about being blue. I like the refrain
of sadness sad and sadness blue. "Let it rain." is a book I plan
on writing about blue times that turned around for good.
I'm sure you touched people's hearts on this. Keep writing.

I like what you have done with this emotion poem. Illustrated uniquely and appropriately with a little lightness to the subject. When we are feeling bad, we think the cloud will never lift. But eventually it does. Marilyn

This is a very well written poem about sadness you have penned. You used very good descriptive wording and the picture you used went well with this. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

You've done an excellent job of Sadness. I certainly related to your words, love the refrain as it gave me pause to feel each stanza cool word choices throughout. I think your poem is from your heart, I wish you good luck in the contest

A very well-written sad poem about emotions that sometimes can overwhelm us at the mist awkward times and we seem to have no control. We often don't even know why we feel sad.

I really enjoyed your poem. the picture is precious and it is a great match too.
It is a bit light hearted, n the morning dew, as if it may have been a mom listening to the same ol' complaint from a child.

In this well-written and illustrated post, you successfully convey the thoughts, feelings, and actions-in-frustration associated with sadness. (Don't take a prescription antidepressant though, as it is now known that those medications actually make matters worse, often prompting bizarre (even murderous) behavior as well as suicidal thoughts and impulses.) One thing proven to help change such a mood is to go do something helpful and/or just nice for someone else. The smile you get back will put one on your own face.

I don't really feel sad. I wrote this because it's the first emotion that came to my mind when I decided to enter the competition.
    Thanks for reading.

You are welcome. I'm glad your post was not about your own circumstances. The advice in my comments was for the benefit of anyone feeling that way, to help others avoid the harm that medications can do. Your effectiveness in describing the emotion and its repercussions prompted my response, so count it as proof you expressed yourself well. -- Mike

The blues get to each of us at times. I love the character you chose to for your illustration. I remember in the movie that sadness was finally r cognizant as being necessary for a full life. Hopefully, you mood gets bright r soon. It inspired a lovely verse nonetheless.

Though the picture suggests a lightness in the treatment of this topic, there is a remarkable sense achieved in this poem, both of the heavy weight of depression and, through your repeating refrain, the sense of dismemberment as it relentlessly hews away at one's being.
