Thank you so much for penning this poem. Just out of interest, I bark at our Toby; slowly and quietly until he gets the thread and then we both yodel together. Of course he gets louder! I loved your poem my friend.

That's so sweet. I expect he enjoys your singing. I've been told by many people that animals do like music and that it is a universal language. I expect that's true. so keep up the singing. Thanks so much for the 6 shiny stars, my friend, that is so nice of you. I had used all mine up by Monday morning. I think we need more, there are so many excellent writers on here and it's not fair just having the 6 x 6. Most people agree with me. I'll be away two weeks, Graham and I are going to Italy, Phil my son is treating us. He has a villa rented and the couple who were going with him can't come now, so Phil paid for our flights and he's meeting us there at that airport. He'll be already there when we get there, So excited!! I've been busy rushing around getting ready all day, and it's boiling hot here! Big hugs, my friend :) Sandra xxx

Thirteen German Shepherds??? My friend had one and he was devoted to her, and very protective. TI hey are very loyal and loving dogs and can sense things almost like the wolf. I think there is a family connection there. I'm glad you liked my poem, my dear, I like any animal and hate to think of any being hurt. You are going to be smothered in hugs by the time I've finished, LOL!! More coming your way! Lots of love and humongous hugs!! :) xxxx Sandra xxx

I had Wolf...my black and sable shepherd...but I saved Missy and Charger from people who were abusing them...I went up to the owners doors and said I didn't like the way they were being treated...Missy was a pure white shepherd...it was a hot day in Florida...she was tied to a clothes line with about 3 feet of line...and about 100 degrees out and no shade or water...I went to the owner door and told them that was wrong...they said if I didn't like it take her...so I did...the same with Charger...I saw this little thing shivering in the rain against a fence...I went up and told the owner he was cold...cover him...they said they didn't want him...so I took him too...Wolf was AKC...and I thought Missy was fixed..right...LOL...well ...now you see why I don't like surprises...LOL...and ten puppies came up...Wolf and Missy...there all sense passed...many years ago...lots of love to you too...xxoo

I had to laugh when you said, #so I took him! I bet they weren't expecting that! LOL. Good for you, you really are an angel. I hate to see animals abused and mistreated like that.... LOL, 10 puppies!!!! That is so funny, but I would have struggled to give any away, for that same reason, we had 22 cats when we lived in Spain. We had the land so it wasn't a problem, but we had to get all the females 'sorted' or we could have ended up with a colony, they were all feral. But all lovely. Aw, I miss those days. Love you, sweet girl. xxx

I wanted to keep them...and they we ready to go...but the hubby said no...they have to go...with a heavy heart...I let them go...they were all a silver color...beautiful...but I made sure they went to good homes...I did everything to check people out...except spend time sleeping in their homes...LOL...even one was a friend...I think I asked for a birth certificate LOL...22 cats...OMG...what were their names???...LOL...start with the oldest...LOL...end up with a colony...you had a colony...LOL...I miss those days too...

Yeah, I sing to my feral cats and fox kits, too.
And get the same reaction. They howl and run away.

There is a great mystical connection between man and beast.
Nicely articulated here. You have to wonder what that ancient wisdom
entails. We know mankind has adopted wolf pups,
and there are several accounts of wolves adopting human babies.

Your poem evokes an Edenistic wish for us all.

Peace, Lee

I've seen some accounts of adopting babies, they are a gentle animal when it comes to family. They only attack if they feel threatened or they pups are, the same as we do. Not that I'd want to put it to the test. I laughed at the thought of you singing to your cats, I could quite picture the scene. Thank you, my dear friend, for the 6 stars. You really make my day. :) Sandra xxxx

Lovely, I read it three times, just because I didn't want to miss anything.
You could imagine the man and wolf standing, sizing each other up. Again lovely.

Hi Sandramitchell

This is a wonderfully written poem of the tension between man and beast. I can sense the charged air in between them as they gaze into one another's souls. Thanks for sharing this! R

Hi, Sandra! I enjoyed reading your poem.
To me, this read like something from The Wolf Whisperer. I'm not sure if such a book exists, but if it did I feel sure that it would have a story like this inside it.

It's a rush when you can read a poem and
imagine the scene take place at the same
time. This is one of those poems. Beautifully
created with rhyme and pace. There's a
beginning and an end, which makes this
so special. -Bill

A good friend the wolf and very smart-animals know who will hurt them and who won't. A wolf has a six sense about these things and they say Indians are part wolf too.

Indians and wolves, yes, I can quite understand and believe that. Both have that inner ancient spirit, mystical and so very proud. Both have been totally misunderstood and taken advantage of, labelled savages. Thank you for reading my poem, and sharing your own thoughts about wolves.

Good poetic story of man meeting beast in nature,in its own habitat and on its own terms, Sandra.
Many of us have actually been privy to such meetings.
It is awesome on those rare occasions when it occurs.
Well done,
~Dean

I can well imagine that, Dean. I think wolves are an ancient species, mystical and very misunderstood. How people can harm them deliberately for sport, is beyond belief. Thank you for your lovely review, my friend. I really appreciate it. :) Sandra xxx

Sandra, I just love it. I waited to review until I got a six for you because that's what it so clearly deserves. Your imagery in this wonderful poem is amazing. I was there with the man and the wolf. Ulla xxxx

Thank you so very much for the six stars, Ulla, (you waited to give me one?!! That was soooo sweet of you!) I think wolves are proud and most misunderstood animals, they attack to protect their families, or if they think you are a threat in any way. I'm just so pleased you enjoyed it, thanks again, my lovely friend. :) Sandra xx
