You sure proved you could write a different kind of story. I just wanted to see what this story was like. Before I knew it, I was done. It's the kind of story that will haunt for a while.

Hi Marv; thank you so much for reading this 'different kind' of story. I'm glad you enjoyed it,

A powerful piece of writing here that chronicles the slow descent into alcoholism and despair from what is, sadly, an all-too common scenario of mismatch and boredom.

thank you so much for reading and reviewing. This was a different kind of story for me; I was inspired to write about alcoholism after watching a documentary about the growing problem with housewives.

Very nice work, Patty! I think you should step out and tell a tragic tale from time to time. I think it's good to keep your skills sharp in all arenas; you never know when opportunity will knock.
Take care,
Russell

Well, I'm glad you did. I love these types of stories. I know how ghoulish of me, but I just do. I love twisty endings too. This was sad, and it may be what happens to a lot of lonely people. Thanks for sharing

Hi Patty,
This was an interesting story line.
But then I don't have much sympathy for alcoholics.
Because they chose the bottle over everyone and everything else.
They drown themselves in self pity using a bottle to do it.
They blame everyone else for their faulty choices.
Those then become the excuses for them to drink.
The family members try to rescue them with sympathy.
But instead the attempts only enables the person to drink.
It ultimately destroys their life and hurts those that tried to love them.
It was a dark story with a stark ending. But a true one.
Best regards,
K River

WHEHHWW!
That was painful to read.
It's surely the story of many housewives. The isolation, the loss and pain are so well expressed.
If only she had 'someone' to relate to, who would see her world and direct her to help.
Again, a scary, sad ending.

Even though the story is dark, it was very well written and kept my attention all the way through. Your description of this woman and her life was intriguing and made me want to read to the end. You create vivid imagery with your words. I especially liked the description of her very organized closets and then how those closets fell into disarray as her life deteriorated. This story is really well done! Great work!

thank you so much for your thoughtful review. I'm glad you were able to see and appreciate my literary devices to portray the disentegration of her life. I had a reviewer tell me there were too many contradictions and she couldn't make heads or tales of it. I thought I had done it all wrong, but then the rest of the reviews have been very positive - thank you so much!

Well, I think you've proven you can write a different kind of story, LOL. I personally know many people who have fallen into this type of lifestyle. THey have simply given up on both sides of the marriage, and created a loss of love, and life for a number of them. A sad story, but a very realistic one.

thank you so much for this very thoughtful review. I'm glad I'm able to break out of my usual, and show a darker side. This was inspired by watching a documentary about the rising statistic of alcoholism among housewives.

What a sad, sad story with such a tragic ending. The story itself was well written, very captivating. It held my attention from start to finish. You made Nancy such a strong character that it was easy to connect, to empathize with her. Like all of your other work, it too is a great story.

Hi there; thank you so much for such a warm and positive review. This story was a bit out of my genre of puppies and kittens, but it was a challenge I needed to take on. Thank you for reading.
