A great read and so well written. I will try to spend more time in reviewing to keep up with this story.
One little thing you might like to consider. The sentence 'His family could be just immigrants.' can have two meanings. Just as in only, or just as in justice. I felt it was pertinent because of the Jewish connection with the word. I think you mean the first and if that's true you can dimly switch be and just, but if you mean the second, you might need to expand. Hope this helps. Best wishes. Val.

This is very interesting. A great use of dialogue. Your characters are well shaped and I liked their interaction with one another. As someone of Russian descent, this story struck a particular cord for me. You build up the anticipation well, and I'd like to know what is in the next chapter. Looking forward to reading it.

Certainly something new comes up as Shana recalls that it took a long time for the curator to make a copy of her claim papers and that the following began right after that. Great story. I'm sorry if I was short. I just reviewed like twenty stories and everything I think I'm caught up, I'm way behind. I don't think I can keep up with a full time business. You write very well, and there were no nits or spags. But I want to give you the kudos for a great chapter.

I have absolutely no idea why received four stars. Usually if one gets four stars there are suggested revisions so the author knows what to fix.

I see you already have many comment so I will just say this is fine writing and this is an intriguing chapter in your story. I suspect it is based on a true story as many Jewish families are still trying to recover family possessions stolen by the Nazi's.
