My mom turned her back and suddenly had eighteen cats, mostly gals. I spent six hundred bucks, and Homeward Bound assisted and we fixed a dozen of them. Mom's six years dead, and I still have three of those ancient cats. Fortunately I love cats. And dogs. And pigs. And fish. and-- excellent post.

Thanks for reading and commenting. I can relate to your mom. Every time I turn my back a new cat seems to appear. I find homes for most of them. I can't have them killed because killing a cat is murder in my mind.

This is a nice story for this prompt. I'm a dog magnet, so I can relate.

I think the semicolon in the first sentence should be a comma, since the second half couldn't be a standalone sentence.

Other than that, I have no suggestions.

Nice work!

Thank you for reading and the catch in punctuation. I will edit and correct. I did intend to use a comma. My bad. LOL

My mom was just like you. Cats loved her; however, she didn't care much for cats. We had cats. They'd jump up on her lap and she'd ignore them. The funny thing was she always made sure they were fed and taken care of.

I loved your story! Congrats for winning the contest!

Thanks for reading and commenting. I think your mom was bluffing when she said she didn't like cats. She might have fooled other people, but no one can fool a cat. They know if someone likes them or not.

I'm like that with dogs lol. I only have one and he is enough. I liked your life story and found it very interesting. Congratulations on a well deserved win and thank you for sharing. Have a great week.

Thank you for reading and commenting. Animals are selective about who they like or don't like. Cats and dogs know if a person likes them or not.

Okay, me too!! They know you love them, maybe that is it. Or perhaps, they know you from a previous life--I don't know. I can only have one cat in my apartment. She is my buddy.
:) TC and have a good retirement.

Thanks for reading and your comments. Cats are some of the fussiest animals I know when it comes to giving their affection. They can spot a cat person a mile away.

You are the winner!!!!!
How could I not give this summary of your life in 150 words a six?
I found the story entertaining, fast flowing and loaded with cat hair.
Nicely done, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this.

Thanks for reading and the six stars. They are appreciated. I wonder what life would be like without cat hair? Sigh, I guess I will never know.

How clever of you to tell us of your life
in such a short piece, April - so sad and
tragic about your beloved sons.

It's strange that you attract cats - perhaps you should change your perfume - ha - sorry, couldn't help but tease. Now I attract birds, they come to my feet and even perch on the mat just inside the conservatory when I'm sat out there - they have me trained to feed them at certain times of the day, and look in the window for me if I'm a little late.

Congratulations on your win, my friend - so well deserved.

Margaret

Thanks for reading, Margaret. You better be careful attracting those low flying birds. They might do a doo-doo as they pass overhead. LOL I love cats which is probably why they find me. I don't mind at all.

Good closing. As for cats being attracted to you, this often happens with people who are water signs such as cancer or pisces.

Thank you for reading and the kind comments. I'm not a water sign, though. I was born April 2. My name is April too. Aries is a fire sign so I don't know why cats are attracted to me. Other animals love me as well.

Comical read yet kept a sense of pride and seriousness to it. This had been your life, and you are very proud and unashamed. I respect that greatly. Thank you for sharing this with me, best of luck!
