Mr. Touche,
This is lovely writing and very sad. I wish I could say I understood it, except I gather that you'd like to be somewhere other than where you are - and not just physically.
And why do you call yourself an imposition on this planet?
I am supposed to be reviewing your post, so pardon the questions.
I have read this three times and I think I get it now. It is a longing for change in your life. I hope you find your happiness soon and explore the other side of your brain.
Your words are beautiful. sail over the fence posts, etc. As I said, a lovely poem.
I can see why it was recognized.

Metaphorical poem about broken fences being like the broken parts inside. This poem flows well. The wood choice is good. Thanks for sharing.

If only we had wings,
if only we could rise above
so called humanity
If only there was a gap
a broken place
in the fence
as the world itself is broken
If only we could sail away
above the fence
beyond the wall
Somewhere
any where
other than here

This is a sad song of waiting, perhaps in a prison, or perhaps as a reflection on those who wished to be free and never were. It speaks to the horrors that we must never forget occurred.

Hi
I see this poem of a person in a place of real sadness, possibly depressed, or oppressed. Wishing for to be released from the metaphorical fence that is binding. Somewhere over the rainbow, has wonderful words of Joy.

Well done
Mary

A very sad and well composed poem. The message was loud and clear. Freedom at all cost. I think the photo is a concentration camp? If so, it is well chosen. Judy Garland did not have a happy life and the reference to her song from 'The Wizard of Oz' is clever. She was not free but at the bid and call of film producers. Well done on writing this. Susan

I don't quite understand what the fence posts as to the broken fence means, but that is OK. I think I grasp the main meaning of your poem: two "broken" people who, upon finding one another, are able to heal. Perhaps, after the healing they are now able to sail high, as would be the fence posts. No longer broken. Well done. A very good poem. Also, to said over the fence posts to be free.

Yes, over the fence posts is to be free. A double entendre really, Free from their own fenced in lines and since this is a picture of a conxcentration camp, free period. Even if only in dreams. Hence the reference to Judy Garland ans :Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

This work has reached the exceptional level

Love the intro into this:
A broken fence
he walks through
the broken place
where I see too. (and these words too)

and then with sea
and laughter start
to mend ourselves
that fell apart

The entire piece could be about anyone's life, and anyone's obstacles...
Very well written.... Also love the last three verses.... Love it...
