This free verse, Waterway, is a beautifully sculpted poem that covers the happy, life-giving waters and the sad life-altering ones. It reflects the waves of change or current of life. Well done.

Thank you so much. This one allowed me to free flow my life and appreciate it. Not all the story is about me, yet in many ways it fits.

Excellent presentation! I loved what you had to say, and how you said it, amazed me. Beautiful imagery and metaphor for rain and baptism were wonderful to read. I enjoyed reading this piece very much. I enjoyed the changing colors of the words, to a point. But, then it got a little distracting. Just a small issue, in such a great piece of work. I liked the spacing of the words, and lines, very much. Thank you for such a passionate personal journey into your past.
Take care, Jesse

I love the trickling, falling shape of the poem. Great imagery - I love the metaphysical comparison of water to life events, and I felt they were not forced. Good flow, and good poem!

This is a peom about how life changes you for the bad and the good. It shows how water is a part of life from conception to death. I like the metaphor of liquor as stainded water. I like the use of color of type to enhance the images of the words.
You also use line breaks and the direction of the words to strengthen the emotion.

Good luck in the contest

Keep writing

thank you so much. I love the way freestyle leads you to just write and let emotions take you away. I so appreciate this high ranking.

No problem. I agree that free verse sometimes is a form that allows emotions and metaphors to flow more freely.

Never mind free verse poetry contest; this should be the free verse poetry winner. This poem is a tour de force of language. You use every poetic tool at your disposal--alliteration, color fonts, enjambment. You told a rich, cascading story about the various fluids in your life, from amniotic fluids to fire water. Your words are like a falling waterfall or a rushing series of waves. Your story takes a dark tone when your parents separated and your life spirals downward like a water spout down the drain of suicide. You are rescued just in the kick of time:

"I walked back to earth away from the sand
I chose change
I awoke early the next day
It smelled like rain"

I love the baptism imagery you created of the rain falling on you as you danced and your new life began.

Thank you for sharing your narrative, free verse poem. I wish you success in the contest.

thank you so much. I hope the judges like it too. Free verse has really become a part of me. Those feelings run out of my brain very much like water does. When someone like you appreciates it, it builds my hope even more. Life is wonderful now.

Hi Sis Cat, Well lost again, I do like the poem Star Journey that won the contest but I truly thought Waterway would have a chance I so appreciate your review. I think women understand my poetry more than men do, So back to the drawing board. But obviously the committee didn't like it.

You are right. I like the poem and the poet that won, but your poem moved me more.
