I can imagine how the world must look to a small dog. My father's vacuum cleaner still has teeth marks from his little Chihuahua protecting us from it. Yep, a goose would appear to be a dragon. Poor Miko. I'm sure the dog-torturer will fix him up.

That's Miko in the artwork. He recovered nicely but stays in his own yard more. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing.

Hi Red,

You did a really good job with this piece. not easy putting in and sticking to this kind of perspective. It frequently comes across as odd or clumsy but this is good.

All the best
G

Thanks very much for reading and reviewing. I actually enjoyed writing this one. The picture is Miko, himself. He recovered.

Ahaha, that's a funny ending :) So the dragon is a goose, and the urdenerden is a car, I'm guessing. I love the i agination from a dog point of view. This was fun. We would seem like giants to some dogs. Welllll, except for Great Danes. They are like small horses.

The Miko weighs about twelve pounds. He recovered quickly, but shuns that gander's turf. That's his picture. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing. The Urdenurden is anything with a gas engine, like the go-cart than ran him over when Miko was a pup, the old white one is a Merc Topaz old enough to drink in a bar.

An object lesson on how to avoid anthropomorphism in an an animam's POV. You have to see the world through the animal's eyes and with the animal's experience of life. Adams did it so well in Watership Down and later in Plague Dogs and you have done it here with the the human race of good and not so good giants, and "cah mere" is absolutely brilliant. I tried in a morelavatorial way, but this is really good stuff.

We both started with the idea of smell and I sure that is the way to go so many "human" stories start with something seen and of course scent is so much more important to us canines. Lol.

Thanks very much for reading and reviewing, and especially for the exceptional rating. I have read many animal stories, including Watership Down, long ago, and liked them all. The photo is Miko, the story is true. He recovered quickly but stays out of that gander's territory.

I am glad to hear it for both their sakes.

Oh wow...Red. I "insist"...please put these stories in a book! Your talents are wasted on FS. :/ Sorry. I mean, not wasted, but you should expand. ?? I love stories from animals POV's even tho I used to be chastised at times for 'not really knowing what's in an animals' mind.'. This is great. I particularly like phrases like 'Cah mere'!! Love it. And perfect ending too Red. :D

Thanks very much for reading and reviewing. This story, all true, was fun to write, looking back from several months lapsed time, after Miko had almost forgotten his battered fanny. Almost. He stays out of that gander's reach. Thanks very much, for reading and reviewing and the great heartwarming rating and words. I never considered publishing, but I am organizing my works. Just in case. Maybe I can be a little less nonchalant about it than Emily Dickinson, who hid her poems until she died...

So enjoyable! I just love this one, as I do all your wild and wonderful tales! :) SAVE ALL.

It never hurts to try. For the last several decades I've told myself I'm an artist. I'm not. I haven't worked hard nuff nor paid my dues...maybe in my next life. I do hope you won't dilly dally. Not trying is the worst sin Red...

A good monster for your dog to be frightened of runiing after him. wow....

Terriers in the Urdenurden. I don't know the word but it sounds dreadful.

Urdenurden is the dog's idea of how the car sounds. Most kids say boodenbooden. Thirty thousand dead giants per year and millions of roadkill animals. Dreadful, indeed. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing.

Poor Miko.
Some geese can be downright mean.
My Grandpa Cook had a few on his farm (I could never understand for the life of me what their purpose for being there on a hog farm was), and one of them would chase everybody and everything that got too close to it. The foul, fowl beast nipped me more than a few times on my backside, too.
Hurt like the dickens, it did!
Hopefully, your little buddy was okay. I'll bet he didn't stray too far away from his own Urdenurden again after that.
Good story, Eliijay.
I enjoyed reading this.

He furred out and was just fine, but insulted and grouchy for days. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing, Dean. Glad you liked it.

Sometimes....sometimes...you amaze me. I always enjoy your writings, don'tget me wrong. But there are times that you simply transcend one level for another. A whole new plane where we mortals cannot step. This is one of those times. Loved it!

I guess I do better when I am talking about my critters. Miko is sprawled in front of my electric heater, snoring. His backside regrew the fur weeks ago. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing, and for the sixth star, which really boosts my morale.

I thought the dragon was going to be a goose, very frightening creatures and great watch dogs, I've been told. I thought the Urdenurden had to be something to do with little kids but had to read your review reply to confirm it. Great POV from Miko Red. Well done,
it was easy to visualize him running in fear of the dreaded dragon.
cheers,
valda

Thanks very much for reading and reviewing. Yes, the Watership Down screenwriters called a car a Roodoodoo. That goose had a bad attitude. Probably still does.

OMG, you have outdone yourself, is this a true story? did your poor little guy get attacked by the neighbor's goose? This is just fabulous, from the Urdenurdens to the Hollow Mountains, the Giants (and the Giant's forelimbs), the toothed stick and the fallen tree parts...just absolutely golden. Oh, let us not forget, the Place Where They Torture Dogs! So funny! One dog I've had loved the vet, she'd drag me through the door...but she was different.
Just loved this, thank you :))

Miko made me label this as fiction, but it was true. Thanks very much for reading and reviewing, and that sixth star really made my day. I still hear that goose occasionally, but Miko has not ventured into the neighbor's yard again.
reply by ciliverde on 12-Dec-2016
Wow, poor Miko! I'm glad he has a good Giant to take care of him. How did you come up with Urdenurden? I liked that.
reply by ciliverde on 12-Dec-2016
Lol! Poor Miko, I'm glad he has a good Giant to take care of him! Where did the Urdenurden come from - is it the sound of the car?
reply by the author on 12-Dec-2016
Urdenurden is a car noise, like boodenbooden or, in Watership Down, a rududu. Miko is getting old, too, ten next March...he needs no dragons.
