Lol! That's cute! And who needs maps when we have GPS on our phones now? But I like that you said it, "We are merely misplaced." And God will place us where He wants us to be. Loved that flexible attitude. It sounds this was real and not fiction.

Thank you so much Helen, many times I have used the concept of being misplaced. I do agree that God will direct our path. Hugs!

I envy your free-wheeling lifestyle as I love to travel and explore. Getting somewhere or nowhere is part of the fun. A good entry
for the prompt. Marilyn

I need a vacation.
Loved this. Visualized every second and laughed out loud about the whole map deal.
Very clean writing.

Hi Alie, I truly feel awful. Here I sit with my keyboard and type and scrub out and type some more, and the dearest person to me strokes my ego, with gentle loving words of praise, and I haven't tuned in to your work in a dog's age. So I am going to cease typing and do some reading. I have just finished "lost or slightly misplaced." I am traveling with you on your trip, being too damn lazy to do one of my own, I'll be in the backseat with the dog, what's his name, the dog, not your driver! I'm in a five star mood today and as I intend to read as many of yours that I can you will get heaps of fives! Unless a six slips past me. Love to you Anne.

Aww thank you so much Anne, we have stopped for the night and just finished supper so it computer time for both of us, The story 'Lost' was from many years ago before I actually retired; but we had lots of vacation time so decided to do a trial run - we were in a zone/ area with no GPS coverage so we had to rely on paper maps and yep the wind just grabbed it and poof it was gone. But we did learn that we could manage this. lol Oh the dog's name is Sallie- she is about 75 pounds -mostly lab with some dalmatian.

A charming story that sounds like a lot of fun and makes me a bit envious-haha. Best of luck in the contest voting booth with this interesting and lively story of a "good lost".

Thank you for your kind words and good wishes. It was actually based on a true story from years ago when we were actually doing our test runs- so now it has been our life style for 4 years and we have seen a lot of the country- I retired and he got a job that meant we travel so its been fun.

Some people simply can not admit when they are wrong.
Interesting concept and storyline.
Good characterizations used throughout the telling of this story.
Should make an interesting entry into this contest.

Hi there,
I liked the premise on which you chose to hang your story. one thing struck me though - why no sat-nav? LOL
A few things I noticed as I read.
coworkers - co-workers.
We had heard some of our elder's comment - elders is just a plural, so no apostrophe is necessary.
about their 'what ifs.' - in this instance the punctuation should be outside the quote mark.
Having said all of this, we were ready to go; and we did just that.- this sentence Is really just filler and you would lose nothing by omitting it.
avoid the high speed and missing sites on the interstates. should this be miss rather than missing? I also think in this instance it may be sights.
We had agreed that each we stopped we would plan - each place we stopped?
Some time we would spend three nights - Sometimes.
I watched as it was wiped across - whipped?
in the beauty of the country side - countryside.
his raised voice was enough to wake the dog who had been sleeping, in fact dreaming in the back seat. - this isn't a speech tag so should start with a capital letter. Also, how did you know the dog was dreaming. One doesn't know this for a fact but you could say most likely or probably.
'Who needs maps its more fun being lost." - it's, also change the opening quote mark to match the closing one. This should also end with a question mark.
All the best

Boy did I mess up on this one, will definitely get the changes made. I was actually doing it while travelling down the road lol, It is a short story of one of our adventures lol. Sat-nav -we were in an area where there was absolutely nothing and had to rely on road maps. I really appreciate all of your help with my writings- You are honest and helpful which means a lot.

Your story was intriguing from the very beginning. You both sounded hilarious. What a great way of thinking that you are not lost but misplaced. Your story put a smile on my face and for that, out come the stars.

I like the fact that both of you made the decision to take off and see the country. My wife and I get lost almost every time we go anywhere; we're both lousy navigators. Fun to listen in to the conversation when Hubbie learns about the missing map.
I do find myself wondering where you were (generally speaking)--the West, East, South. There are few details given to give the reader clues.
