Oh yes! That was lovely. Here is the promised five, now don't get big headed over this Alie I'll keep on giving them to you. I've got lot's of time to read lovely words. Over here we don't celebrate Thanksgiving as you do but we know all about your respect for your early settlers. Our first white people made such a hash of our First People that we are inclined to hang our heads in shame. Ah, history it shows up the dirty bits doesn't it? Love you, Anne.

I know Alie I'm writing this all wrong place but I also know you will find it and sort the two conversations in the right order. Thank you for the information about feathers. Do you honestly Alie realise how many things run between us. It is kinda spooky but I have no fear. I have had a strange life. When I was married to the children's father he worked on Railway lines way to heck and back as far as he could get from debt collectors. The children and me got dragged along as well. Out on those camps there would be mainly Aboriginal families with ten or more kids, all snotty-nosed and usually sick. My husband was one of the boss's and when things happened I was the one they yelled for with the medicine box and scissors! So though I had no official training I had damn good instinct and knew what to do. My motto in life "Do unto others as you would have done to you." Sound familiar? It's uncanny. Love to you dearest girl Anne.,

Yes I have sensed the similarities we have and the bond that has been established. It is interesting that many years before I learned about my real father I was drawn to the reservation 20 miles away. My other family would take me there during the summers and when I was about 7 I got chance to talk to the medicine woman who told me that I would be good for the people, I was doctoring and nursing all the wounded animals I found (of course in secret) and several time I stiched up my nephews, my friends, myself and never did the doctor undo and redo-so I thought this was what was meant. Then I discovered my past and was totally surprised when the tribe paid first for my nursing then later as well for my doctorate in naturopathic medicine (dealing with herbs, aromatherapy, touch healing-non medical stuff)- then I understood. I like your motto and yes it does sound familiar- even before I became Wiccan I used to say 'do onto others as you would have done to you, only do it first.' You are indeed a blessing to my life Anne; Luv to you my friend, Alie. PS I will find your writings where ever you place them :)

A good short story on recognition for the sacrifice of plants and animals make for us humans. As a vegetarian, I even feel guilty about eating my veggies. No flesh for me, though. Animals give too much of themselves for us. Time to give back and not eat them. How about that? I wonder if anyone agrees with me--probably not. Marilyn

Thank you for your reviewing comments. I think there are a lot who agree with your thoughts. Although not a vegetarian (yet) I am a firm believer that one does not take more than what is needed and to always give thanks for what has been received, what has been given.

A unique story about thanksgiving. I liked it. Also, your descriptive ability, especially in the first couple of paragraphs was excellent. I could visualize it all.
Thanks for sharing this story.

Hi there, I liked this story a lot about the Thanksgiving feast seen from a turkey's point of view. It was actually proud of ending up on the table. Well done. Good luck in the contest. All the best. Ulla:))

I like the way that you personified the plants and animals in the gathering of the harvest. A very original story and imaginative.

Creative view of the Thanksgiving feast. I would've thought the turkey would've of schemed a way out of it all. Such a noble sacrifice. Enjoyed the different vegetable descriptions.

Thank you for your kind comments and thoughts. I thought about having the turkey avoiding but then it wouldn't be a Thanksgiving (autumn) feast :)
