An exploration of the mindset of someone who questions her personal strength, so much so that she cannot seem to find comfort in her own company. Unfortunately, this is a reflection of the mindset of many woman. A lack of confidence leads to a search for comfort in a man, the initiation of the domestic violence cycle. A very well flowing piece.

Brett,

I really like your poem...a salve for loss and pain. One path I have never chosen, but effective for a short period of time most likely.

My favorite stanza is:
"Mister, O Mister, tell me more about your gentle hand
and where it's said love is hard to understand
Listen to the music play soft and sweet
And for a dance you can sweep me off my feet"

Your chosen artwork is wonderful. I just realized these are song lyrics...I would love to hear the song. It also explains the repetition of lines, although this is common is some types of poetry.

Why do you only have two complimentary reviews for each person? I've never seen that before. I really don't understand the theory behind this. I have my own reasons for fanning people and they are people who can handle and appreciate constructive criticism and those who read my writing and give the same back.

I guess I should say thank you for allowing me to read your poem/song lyrics. I should consider my #1 as an honor.

Kelly

These lines are excellent:

Let me feel your warm touch all over me
And these broken chains of love will set me free

Great lyrics with a country and western feel. "Broken chains of love" is a catchy phrase worthy of repetition.

She's quite a temptress. It looks like someone's headed for trouble. Nice lyrics for a song - thanks for sharing these fine lines. Cheers and the best to you my friend.

Wishing you all the best...
Bill

The objective correlative of the poem is a brazen quest for prompt replacement of a lover lost by a promiscuous woman.

A vacuum is created by the absence of her lover and she wants it filled up by a total stranger who appears hesitant to afford her the request.

The work earns its texture through the use of metaphor, onomatopoeia and alliteration. Excellent work! Bravo !

this is a passionate piece of poetry and i think it it really does need a warning for sexual language. but otherwise it is rather steamy and vividly thought of.
thank you for sharing!

Hello Brett,

These are excellent song lyrics! I can easily envision them being sung by a female country singer.. I love the title "Mister, O Mister" and the repetition of that throughout your lyrics.

Being betrayed by the one she loves is certainly enough to make her want to get out there and get some lovin' ... something that many people can relate to.

I also love the repetition at the end of three of the stanzas with "and these broken chains of love will set me free".

Maybe send these lyrics in to Paramount Song in Nashville?

Well done!

Connie
