Well it sounds to me that she was simply taking advantage of the fact that young people are supposed to help the elderly, and one shouldn't expect gratitude from doing what you're supposed to do. At least, that's my take on this witch. LOL

It's really unfortunate that there are people like this in the world. They must lead a miserable existence. I bet he'll never help her again and most of her other neighbors won't either.

Unbelievable - two pictures of the same woman in one contest. Well, the story is different, but the basic idea is pretty much the same - grumpy neighbor. Good luck in the contest. Which one was posted first, I wonder...hmmm...well, they say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, if that happens to be the case here.

Very well written and descriptive little story. Glad Mrs. Lee lives in your neighborhood and not mine. Believable dialog and exchanges between characters. Mrs. Lee is believable as the type of person most of us would actively or passively avoid. Good job and luck with the contest.

Thanks for your kind review. I had to 'prune' my piece to meet the word requirement and it's lost a lot of details, but it was a good exercise.
BTW, congratulations on winning the Share Your Story competition.
