Hi i am really fascinated by this story...which sounds so truth. The sheer beauty of it makes me happy. Well a cat is a cat after all, pampered lying all day on the setty. Of course it would not other to tamper with this...his right. So frightenng others is natural.
Great writing.

What a charming story and so very well told.

For a short moment it was all about the beauty of the beast, the intelligent and playful deer. But, Blackie entered the fray and played panther to his much larger friends. Of course the creatures ran for cover.

The cat got to be the bad boy and then return to doing what cats do best - resting.

The cat attack was particularly well related and had me laughing as I tried to imagine it in my head. Your prose is smooth and well structured. The whole story was very satisfying to read.

Best of luck with the voters.

Can't blame the deer for being skittish since so many people hunt them, and other larger animals as well. Yes, they are beautiful. We have small deer here in Florida, they just come out of the woods and into out yard or neighbors yards. I liked your story. I owned cats and I can so envision this. great job telling it.

Thank you. Blackie loves pulling pranks like he did on the deer. He is one of the funniest cats I have ever had.

-Very nice image.
-I find deer beautiful and docile, as well.
-I like your story.
-It begins well, describing their usual behavior.
-Then, they seem to be reacting to something,
not sure what to make of it.
-They see Blackie in the road, and the young deer
is a bit more inquisitive than the older one.
-At this point, I thought something was wrong with the cat.
-We find out he likes a practical joke! Pretty good for a cat;
but the poor deer had their quiet morning disturbed.
-Blackie, however, is probably contemplating his triumph!
-I enjoyed your story.

Thank you. Blackie is a different sort of a cat. He is not afraid of anything. I had to stop him from taking on an eagle that landed in our yard one day. He has more guts than brains sometimes.

This is a very nice short story
the simplicity of nature in the young deer's
encounter with the devilish "Blackie"
who enjoys a good joke
Don't mess with a black cat
even if you are twenty times taller
The deer are very skittish, we see them all the time
where we live
Very well written and enjoyable story

Fun story! I went to school where the deer population outnumbered the students two to one. Since it was illegal to shoot a deer on campus, they would congregate in the early morning hours. It was such a peaceful experience. You're very lucky to have this in your own yard.

I found a couple of things for your consideration.

They are beautiful animals and so much fun to observe as the young fawns romp and play; much the way any kids do. --the reason I picked this sentence out is because I don't believe there is a complete thought much the way kids do. I would suggest a comma instead, but I am not 100%.

I went to another window so I could see what intrigued the deer so much. -- suggest comma before the conjunction so.

Take care,
Russell

Thank you. Thanks for the six stars. It's a good thing your dog has never met Blackie. Blackie would have a lot of fun with him.

Thanks for sharing your story. I enjoyed the way you described the deer getting close than jumping back while the cat didn't move. My cat used to play that game with a collie.

Prettybluebirds, what a neat story. Those poor deer though. I bet
they were scared half to death. What a rascal your cat Blackie
was to put the deer through that. I bet you do see a lot of interesting
things on your farm.

Thank you. We do see some amazing things here on the farm. We had a pair of baby eagles who were just learning to fly in our yard for a while. They did some funny baby things too. I chased them away when they started noticing my cats as potential lunch.

Wow. I'd love to visit a farm. I remember visiting family when I was a kid that lived on farms. Judy
