Boy howdee! you write this stuff well. I am jealous. Green with envy. This action stuff is not in my bailiwick. More bad jokes: Are all math puns bad?
No, just sum.

You're an absolute goof, and I love it. It's like there is so much bubbling around your head and it's just trying to get out. Thanks for taking time out for my old stuff. You make me smile. I appreciate YOU!

You have no idea. My brain never stops. I love your stuff, because you write so well, I rarely want to correct it. So many people blindly write without any research. Like they were using a microwave in 1960. That stuff gets in my craw. Really silly bad jokesmake me smile. Here's a favorite: Do you know what Harpo said to Groucho? Me neither. :-)

Hi Ric,
a very vivid imagery floated this story like a movie playing out in front of me... very well written and a very enjoyable read... all the very best wishes in the writing prompt entry.

With our thoughts we create,
viable options of chance.

This is a well described, action-filled flash fiction. Reader is interested in what will happen, what the outcome will be. Great word choices, none of them wasted. Marilyn

What vivid description! I felt like I was right there beside you fighting for my life. Which to me, is one of the most important aspects of any type of writing. You have to bring the reader in. They have to be able to feel the emotions as well as read the words and your piece did that for me!

I look forward to reading more of your work. Keep it up!
Cindy

"Trapped it seemed, corralled like a wild animal waiting to be slaughtered." ... An apt description of how a soldier feels in a seemingly unwinnable situation, Ric ...

"Fishtailing, they accelerated out of the clouds of dust, racing toward me faster than a cheetah speeds to devour a gazelle." ... That's pretty fast because a cheetah can accelerate from 0 - 60 mph in 3 seconds, making it the fastest land animal on the planet. Yes, even faster than Usain Bolt. Like Bolt, the cheetah is a sprinter - not a long distance runner - and can only attain high speeds in short bursts due to the tremendous drain on its energy resources. It could take up to 30 minutes for a cheetah to recover from a chase. No so with gas powered Jeeps ...

Yeah, if you're wise and on the opposing side, it's best not to mess with an Apache Helicopter. Gatling guns, hell-fire missiles, all precision targeted through a sensor in the pilot's helmet...
It'd be best just to count your losses and move along.

Nicely written, Ric. A taut, tense, entertaining story.

In my opinion this is extremely well written. Bravo. Although not my usual genre I appreciated the story line and execution.

Ric,

This is very well written. I found no glaring errors to make note of ... wow!

The sense of tension and anxiety is immense and keeps your reader edgy and breathing hard.

I like this line ...

Trapped it seemed, corralled like a wild animal waiting to be slaughtered.

... there are a couple of others like it.

As I said, your writing keeps heading upwards in quality. So very well done, Ric!

Hope you've been having a great week.

Until next time,

Sonali )

Sonali, my dear, sweet, friend, there is always something missing until I see your reviews. I will never forget those first reviews when you spent so much time writing a list of suggestions that sometimes rivaled the stories in length. At first I couldn't understand why anyone would work that hard and spend that much time trying to point out another person's mistakes. Then, after a couple years, oh yes, and less and less spag in my work, I finally realized that your enjoyment came from my happiness, growing confidence, and my somewhat more readable posts. You are a true gem, more brilliant than any diamond, and I thank you every day. Many thanks, and I wish you the best! ((HUG)) :-)

Hello, Good writing. kept me reding with intensity. I like the line that was common place, but ended with how the guns could shred human bodies into hamburger quicker than whole-beef cattle through commercial processors. Good image!

The last line reads a bit off. "and pluck me right from under enemies' noses rescue".

Very good. dustybones

Yes, that last line seems a little off for a lot of people, but I actually wrote it to sound that way on purpose. I guess it would have been more easily understood if I had written: . . . Apache helicopters orchestrated another daring, swoop-in, and-pluck-me-right-from-under-the-enemies'-noses rescue. What I tried to say was that, that whole sentence is the type of rescue. Anyway, yes, it's a little silly. I was just having fun with it. Thanks for taking time to read my story. Your kind words, comments and suggestions, and great review are greatly appreciated. :-)

Ric, I know that these types of actions have taken place. Men who can do this has no fear of facing death. Their brains must be wired differently. Blew out my left knee in '66, my senior year of high school. Lost 8 football scholarships to some big schools. Couldn't even fight in the Viet Nam war, so I don't know what I could do!

This is a great story with lots of actions and decisions he had to make. Great piece of writing Eric.,,,,,,,Jim

Ben Colder, my friend, every time you spend your time reading my work, it's a six to me. It's not very often in life that we meet someone so talented, who spends every day of his life witnessing to others, and touching our hearts with his love of Christ. It's just a blessing to know you! :-)
