I love your excellent photo of the local deer and especially the fawn. A lovely story about your concerns and the interplay between them and you, the custodian. And smokey.

Maybe they knew you were there to help if you needed. It can be a bad thing when the wildlife gets use to us but it can also have its benefits. I'm glad they are all still alive. :)

So many people believe the superstition about touching babies. It isn't true, and keeps many people from rescuing baby birds or bunnies (or deer). The mother knows her baby's scent and visa versa. Of course it isn't wise to play with wild animals for many reasons, but that isn't one of them, and I'm glad you checked on the fawn,
Rhonda

Thank you for sharing your delightful little story about the fawns, Ine. I can imagine you tapping one to check, and then worried because the mother may reject it. But... that was not to be, thanks goodness. Thanks for sharing and warmest regards, Marijke :o)

How adorable.
We have deer here, running free from property to property. They often birth their fawns on my property. They are wild and scatter when people come near.

I enjoyed your story, Robina.

HI, Ine. Here in Michigan, USA, we are known to have one of the largest deer populations in the world. I have five or six that stroll through our yard in early evening and sometimes early in the morning.....just a few feet away from the front porch. Very curious they are and so beautiful as you say.

Blessings. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing the "beautiful sight" in your description and photograph, and letting us know there are more fawns to come. Keep on enjoying--without Smokey, of course! -Joan

I don't know how nature synchronizes the buck rutting and the doe ovulating, but it seems to happen at random over periods of weeks.
Not likely that deer in a park will even notice human scent. Glad to hear there's a fawn crop.
