Hello Mikey

Sorry, I'm so late with my r&r, I seem to have no heart since the funeral on Monday. I guess all the family gathering stuff was a bit too much. Like you, I'm used to solitude. I have enjoyed the fun of the crowds and gatherings...just need less, much less of them these days. I can sure identify with this one Mikey. Beautifully written, you'd have a six if we weren't sup ... oh damn ... have a six! lol A lot to think about here, personally for some readers I expect. Expertly penned with arousing phrasing, meter and rhyme. I like this one HEAPS!! This is where Mikey come to the fore. I'm trying to get through the others, thought I'd better get in with yours. :))) An outstanding octogram ... for rhyme and meter poetry, I really like this form when done as well as this. Great work. Hugs - Lovi xoxox

Talk about late. Jeesh. Wow, I'm so delighted you enjoyed this. Solitude is the best. I kind of like people in small doses. I usually prefer one on one or just myself. Very solitary type though it's hard for most to believe due to my obnoxious and loud persona. HAHAHA! Thanks so much, mikey xoxoxox

LOL Loud and obnoxious ... many in my past may have referenced me this way. I do prefer an intimate dinner party than a wild party. I guess those who would judge me rather than get to know me, would have called me a party girl. Not really me at all. Very few have ever understood my need for solitude ...

My pleasure Mikey, I love this one. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

Hi, Mikey,

Spoken like a true introvert! I can relate completely. Your octogram hits on one of those 'coming into adulthood' things when we begin to settle in for a quieter time.

Your octogram is in fine form with rhyme, rhyme pattern, meter, enjambment and line syllable count.

Well done!
Ray

Glad you enjoyed, Ray. Yep, I'm loud, but I'd just as soon be alone. LOL mikey

I have to give you a six for expressing what I so often feel so well and doing it in an octogram too. The older I get, the more I enjoy my solitude and the less I like crowds and gatherings. I like people too, just in small doses. I am really drawn towards other writers. We seem to share a common bond I don't feel with non-writers. Well written octogram, my friend~Debbie

Wow. I'm so pleased you liked this. I was truly surprised when I finished and thought, "Gee, this is pretty good.". LOL
Yeah, for all my noise and out going this and that, I'm a real loner who loves being alone. But I enjoy people too, I just get tired of being myself if that makes any sense. HA!! mikey

We're alike in our dislike of crowds and noise. But it's kind of funny that you got fed up with your own party...I've done that. Nice job here, on of the best in this bunch, I like your word choices very much,
Carol

I even get tired of myself. LOL
I just wish mikey would shut up and be quiet.
I can be drug to events and enjoy them when I get there, but I generally would just as soon stay at home. People find it hard to believe since I'm so loud etc. HA! mikey

Really, you're loud? That's so funny in an introverted person. Although I can be loud too, at times. :)

Hello, Mike,

Your poem caught me at a low and it made me cry. Maybe because I am feeling lonely tonight. Your words resonated with me.

That new year's eve I slipped away with solitude.... >>
>>you chose interesting words>>>slipped away with solitude.

The beginning of the stanza made me think that someone left you, someone, you care about deeply and you were left in solitude. But I was wrong.

I SLIPPED away... with solitude. You made the choice.

Sometimes solitude can be a blessing.

But still... there is something very melancholic about your poem and I love it.

OMG! Never cry around me. I have no idea what to do. I'll end up buying you a car or something. JEESH!
I get tired of being the center of things sometimes, well, most times. I prefer alone or with someone alone, which is the same thing to me. No more crying. Scary for mikey. Hugs xx00

HI Michael, not sure if you really like being alone...but I do most of the time...enjoy a night out once in awhile...but crowds I'm just not that fond of...would rather be on the beach with that certain someone...than at a party...another nicely done Octogram sweetie...very well written...luff Linda xxoo

I do LOVE being alone. People find that strange since I'm such a life of the party type, but yeah, I wish I'd shut up and go away sometimes. HAHAHA! The certain someone is always welcome. I'd just as soon hang out with her all the time and she'd probably want to run and hide. :)) mikey xx00

Yeah. I get it. I can take SOME crowds for a little while and then I'm like - all filled up. Let's go. My tank is filled and overflowing - get me out of here! hahahaha

I sooooo totally get it. Which is weird, because I AM a people person. I'M weird. oh well.

I'm a center of attention life of the party type, but it gets old and I even get tired of hearing MYSELF and I wish I'd shut up too. HAHAHA! Not weird, it gets to feel like an obligation after a while and you feel trapped into being yourself so you have to ESCAPE! You get it. Yep. mikey

Hi Mikey, this is a great octogram poem with good rhythm due to steady iambic meter and clever rhyming and superb vocab--love the word etude. I like that you painted a moody and melancholy picture in the middle of a joyful occasion--a party. It adds to the drama of this poem. Nicely done.

Hi Mike!

You've composed a really solid Octogram here with
a meaningful message. I especially like the lines:

"I had to seek an interlude
with solitude"

It seems you've found yourself and what brings
you health. I also don't care for crowds. Love being
your pledge and solitude being your haven of
peace was a lovely ending.

This was an incredibly smooth read and your
presentation is stunning.

Linda
