Yes those hot flashes are more than a little annoying. They can be very embarrassing to say the least and are in their way just as bad as the monthly. Good read and keep on writing.

Gretchen, I have been divorced for the last eleven years, so I have not been witness to this daunting phenom that women must live with. Friends have told me how mentally downing this is and they say nothing seems to help. I feel bad for you and all the women that has to put up with this. Is there anything to help?

Take care!

    It's no fun, that's for sure, but it can always be worse. Thank you for the great and understanding review. Gretchen

Wow! Sorry for you! For some reason I never suffered hot flashes or maybe it was because I lived in Las Vegas in the blazing heat and just didn't know it was a hot flash. LOL
We dressed as cool as we could there anyhow. This is a fun write and I think my mom used to drink a tonic called Lidia Pinkums or something like that. Hang in there.xsx Nancy

It is very annoying. I don't understand why the medical community doesn't get on the ball and something about it. They need too. I enjoyed reading your very appropriate post.

My wife seemed to handle that phase without the unfortunate side benifits of the dreaded "change" but yours sounds like it's a genuine inconvenient change Gretchen, but thanks for communicating, you are such a lovely open person, both with your faith and endearing openness, well done, blessings, Roy

Because of my treatment for prostate cancer, the shot of Lupron I take every three months drives down my testosterone, with one of the annoying side-effects being hot flashes and night sweats. I'm into my seventh month now with no let up. The last time I went to my oncologist he told me 20 percent of men have the hot flashes and night sweats the rest of their lives. He seems to think I'll be spending the rest of my life looking up at the 80 percent. But the alternative is worse.

You describe it so well, though you should have mentioned how delicious the cool-down is when the flashes go away.

I always thought when this time of life came, my husband and i would be wild animals. ........You need to capitalize the "I" indicated in red, Gretchen...

Well, if you happen to strip off your clothes on a street corner somewhere in Anywhere Town, USA, I'm quite sure it might be more than a little dangerous, "G", no matter how liberating it might be. But, on a much happier note, you could conceivably make enough to send at least one of your granddaughters to college, given the right audience.

Good luck with this... :}

This is full of humor and reality. I went through it long ago and it stripped me of so many things. I have to admit I still want to be that young woman whose body didn't betray her with these awful feelings.

    Amen. It is a huge betrayal. I remember feeling the same way when I went through puberty. Hopefully, it will work out the way that did. We'll see. Lol. Thanks for the great review. Gretchen

Luckily, being a guy, I don't and won't have this problem. Well, on second thought, the change and pending conditions are very likely to be something that all or most of us guys have to deal with too, just not the hot flashes. Well, on third thought, I've broken out in a sweet and am burning up just thinking about all the problems this can create. Of course, for me, taking my clothes off can only make matters more difficult. LOL! Thanks for the fun read. At least you're keeping your sense of humor about it. :-)
