Thank you for this timely reminder that it wouldn't be such a great idea for me to emigrate to Australia. Perhaps you could reinforce this message with a series of pieces on snakes, poisonous spiders, crocodiles, sharks, kangaroo-kicks and any other unacceptable Australian hideosities you might be able to come up with.

Thanks, Adrian, but I'm safely back in New Zealand now, having survived all the above hazards plus irukandji jellyfish, disembowelling cassowaries, stone fish, blue-ringed octopus and tropical cyclones. New Zealand is a haven, by comparison - no snakes or venomous critters of any description. Falling off a mountain while admiring the view may be a hazard and it is possible to fall into boiling mud-pools in places...
