Great descriptions of the fog and the pine forest you put us right there in the mail truck as he travels his route. I love the interplay between the mailman and the kitten, nicely written and a lovely story.

I really enjoyed this story. I used to do animal rescue for many years. There were always so many cats that needed homes. It's amazing how he found the kitten a home in a few hours. Love the description of the cat running into the mailboxes. I could just picture that sweet little guy. I thought your descriptions of the rural route etc were very good. I immediately got pictures of the area. Oh and I thought it was great you mentioned fairies. I love fairies and hope to write a story about them one day. Great work.

Thank you for your kind review. This is a true story. My brother found other cats and kittens on his route but he was lucky in finding a fast home for that particuler kitten. It amused him the way the kitten kept running up his arm and into the mailboxes. I never forgot this story even though my brother passed away in 2008.

The kitten finds a guardian angel. The Mailman and The Kitten.' A very interesting story you have created here with your brother as mailman looking always for deserted animals. This happens too often and people should be held accountable for such acts. Very well done.

What a precious story. I love cats and have rescued many cats and kittens over the years. It is so terrible that some people are so heartless as to abandon such helpless and beautiful little creatures. It is wonderful you found a home for this sweet baby. Thanks for sharing this touching story. Besides the story itself, the prose is exquisite. You are a very talented writer!

Best,
Marissa

Thank you. The words come easy when I write from my heart. I loved this brother very much and he was a kind and caring person. Folks who dump animals was one of his pet peeves. He told me this story several years ago and I never forgot it.

A happy ending story that's fill with hilarious moments and deep introspection on the cruelty we humans inflict on animals. Something like this almost happen to a house cat my family had except I intervene and stopped the "throw away" from happening. Thanks for sharing this.

This is such a nice, refreshing story! I'm glad it ended on a good note. This was very well written. The transitions between paragraphs and scenes were well done. Smooth transitions make it easy for the reader to understand. Everything you wrote moved the story forward; nothing slowed or stalled things out. Your dialogue was very real - not fake or forced. The descriptive narrative painted excellent pictures in the mind's eye. Overall, you did an excellent job with this story. Good luck in the contest.

This was very enjoyable to read, although that could be due to the fact that I'm an animal lover. The text flowed very smoothly and kept my interest until the end. Only kink was that I think you could delete this part, "Go figure...terrible death back there in the woods." and the ending would feel more focused on the "fairy" assistance with the kitten. Nice work!

Thank you. I will read the story over and may take your suggestion. Maybe the ending does take away the magical aspect of the story. Thanks for the tip. I don't have any more reviewing votes or I would give you one.

What a perfectly enchanting story! And based real life no less :-)

I absolutely love where this wooded glen sent your mind, and
thoroughly enjoyed every word of it (though I must admit, the
climbing in and out of the mailbox was my favorite part.

As a rescuer of abandoned and feral kittens myself, I clicked
into this story instantly.

Great write! For my money, you have an excellent shot at winning this!
