Hi Rhonda,
Wow! You must have had a rough go of it with that broken jaw, involving a molar as well. You must have been in a lot of pain. I can sympathize, somewhat, as I spent July-September chewing extra-strength Tylenol, 600mg Advil pills, and a few Tylenol 3 with codeine during those summer months. It was terrible. One molar extracted, and a root canal on the other. No fun! It's such a relief to be free of the pain these last few weeks. But I'm still waiting to be called back in (when a cancellation comes along) so that the dentist can finish up with the root canal. (It still has to be filled, but no pain... the nerve is gone!).
What happened anyway? Were you in a car accident back in 2016? That was 7 years ago, so I'm hoping you've closed the door on that episode.
Hugs,
Kimbob

    Hi Kimbob,
I was kicked in the head by a bull, lol. Farming accident, and I stay clear of the brutes now! I do finally learn.

I sympathize with anyone who has mouth issues. I hurt for a solid year from that. I still have trouble chewing things that are tough, and I totally relate on the pain meds. Although, they can only help so much.

I'm so glad to have finally met. I joined in 2010, too. I had to go back and look.

    Take care,
    Rhonda

Isn't that something? We never ran across each other till now. You must remember Brooke (adewpearl), Gungalo, Alvin TeTHington, Dean Kuch, and a few others.
You had a rough go of it with that bull, eh?
reply by the author on 27-Oct-2023
I do remember Brooke and Dean. I think Brooke was the first one I knew on this site to pass away. I was so sad.
I can't even say how sad it was to lose Dean. He was a man of so many layers, and all of them momentous.
I don't remember the other two. Do you remember iamcat and Fez?
reply by the author on 27-Oct-2023
Oh, and the bull, he was actually a sweet bull but had gotten really, really mad. We sold him to be a bull with a herd, which was good for him. I can say I'll always remember him, and not necessarily in a good way, hehe.

I remember iamcat, but not Fez.

This was actually a year ago. I wrote a recent story about it called, "Farmer's Only.com". There I told all about what happened. I'm pretty much healed up now, with some residual problems. At the time I posted this one, I had severe head trauma, and wan't even supposed to be on the computer. I'm surprised I spelled anything right at all.

The other book I'm writing is called, "The Educational Corporate Model" or something close. I've posted two chapters on it so far. I'm trying to write it ahead of a conference I'm supposed to present the program to.

    Thanks for reading.

Hi!

Just saw this. Hope you are doing better. Concussions seem so innocent ... just a bad headache and a little wooziness (sp?). But the potential damage to the brain is very serious. Hope the jaw and concussion continue to improve.

Actually, a massive one, like I had, are horrible. You can't stand without help as the room spins out of control, you can't respond properly to things said or asked, and you find it difficult to initiate conversation. You can't get on anything electronic, for me it was 6 weeks, or even read a book. If I tried, my eyes would start to spasm, and colors run around my head. I had no idea just how bad it could be. I still have trouble with my eyes, and anything too colorful. I had never heard about the bad kind. I have now.

The jaw is much better, but I still have to be careful with anything too hard to chew, and will opt for softer food when I can. Other than that, I survived, and gained a better understanding of suffering and perseverance!

Thank you for asking and for reviewing the story.
    Take care,

Wow! That is one heck of a concussion! Please take care! My background is visual health. I taught at the School of Optometry at University of St. Louis a number of years ago. I'm not an optometrist ... I was a research optician. I taught the students how lenses literally manipulate light to improve vision.

If the occipital lobes (there is one on each side of the brain at the rear of the skull) are bruised or otherwise irritated, it can affect your vision until the damage from the impact subsides. The occipital lobes control your vision, primarily by means of the visual cortex. When the occipital nerve is irritated, it can send horrible flashes of pain to the eyes. It's a lot more complicated than that, but that's the basic idea.

    Hope I didn't bore you!

    Wishing you continued progress,

    Alan

Thank you so much, Alan! I wasn't the least bored, and now I understand what went on. I couldn't imagine what caused the "spasms" in my eyes. Like I said, I still have to be careful when focusing too much on one thing, like writing on here.

When it first happened, my eyes rolled back in my head, and stayed that way for a while, even though I was aware of what was going on. The vertigo was so bad for months that if I looked up, turned over, stood up too quickly, etc, the room would spin and my eyes would roll back again, though not as bad as it had initially. I really appreciate you helping me understand a part of what I went through!!

Thank you so much. I'm better every day. It's pretty much been a long slow healing process, especially since they are still working on my mouth from the trauma, but I'm back to work, and back to writing.

    I appreciate the concern!

I'm glad you're healing enough to be back at work and back to your writing

Thank you so much. Writing has been one of my greatest escapes, but in the early days, when my concussion was really bad, they wouldn't let me on the computer. I couldn't even read a book, so I listened to audio books!! Thanks, again, for your concern.

Thank you, Marilyn. It'll all work out. I'm just the kind who likes to shake it off and keep going, but this is one of those accidents that takes more time than I have patience for. haha. Oh, well. Gotta learn patience somehow, right? Thanks for caring,

I'm working on getting back to "normal". I just got out of the hospital from a second surgery. Those bulls-no more playing with them. haha. Big animals are stronger than you might think..

I'm glad you're doing better, Rhonda. Bulls are wonderful creatures, but compact, powerful and strong. :) Marilyn

Bad things sometimes happen to good people. So sorry to hear of your injuries resulting from this accident, Rhonda. I hope that you're not in too much pain, and that the reading and writing helps to give a bit of a distraction during your recovery time. Wishing you the very best!

-On the good side, you used the computer yourself, and the concussion is improving.
-Your spirits sound good.
-On the not so good side, I am sorry that your jaw has these problems, and you will need more surgery. I also don't imagine you are eating very well.
-As I said to your son, I am wishing you the best, and hoping that all continues to improve for a full recovery.
-Take care of yourself.

The surgery is now over except for taking screws out, but that's not so bad. I have a permanent plate in the chin and will have to have a tooth replaced, but it could have been much worse. Thanks for you support,

You must have a very strong will and outlook. I worry over stuff like getting implants.
