Well, she said."let me tell you about back in the old days." ----> should be as follows (note the placement of the speech tags, as well as the commas, Country...)
"Well," she said. "Let me tell you about back in the old days.
People weren't so standoffish as they are today. Everyone was friendly and they helped each other when they could. The women folk would hold the county bake sales and exchange recipes and etc. Best of all it was time to gather everyone in town together. Kids all loved to help with the cookie making because they got to help cut them out and decorate them When they weren't eating them hot out of the oven." <----- This is where Grandma stops speaking, so this is where the quotation marks, or speech tags, should be placed...
Most Grandparents today are too busy with their own life to care.**spacing** I loved their stories about how they grew up, ---->You need a space after the word ""care" here, Country...
Your Grandma sounds like a wonderful woman. I am going to be sure to make some of her Monster Cookies from her recipe provided here myself.
After all, I do love Monsters, lol.
Best of luck to you in the contest, and Happy 2016 to you & yours.

Wonderful story. Simply delightful. Back in the days.... baking memories are many for me too. Although, I don't even bake. Nice storytelling. Good recipe. Maybe I'll make it someday. Merry Christmas

Hi CRW,
This is a really cute little story. The recipe has my mouth watering. I can't bake as my oven went caput quit awhile ago. I can't afford to get another stove with a oven. I enjoyed this story very much.

Nostalgic memories, two recipes ... one for the mind and one for the body, and the entire package in excellent narrative and no wasted words (well only a few)

Howdy!
A nice little story in which to weave a great-looking recipe! This so creative and easy to read. Yes, the good old days - when you could almost always trust your neighbor and actually knew their names!
Great work! Hugs ...

why only 4 stars what is missing if it is so good
-
Sorry about thast rating. It was supposed to be 5 stars. I'll go correct it.
My recent surgery left my left hand partially paralyzed and I have Focal Dystonia, which makes typing a nightmare to begin with.
Sorry!
Alan

What a nice story to get the reader thinking of the good old days. I always make something special during the holidays. My daughter and I love to make no bake cookies and truffles. We have a lot of fun in the kitchen with that. Thank you for sharing. Good luck in the contest. Merry Christmas!

Oh I just love old fashioned Christmas stories, those stories when grandmas baked, and baked, and then baked some more. My grandmother, the one who lived in the country side, had a clay oven on the yard. Oh, the sweet smell of fresh bread. Thank you for the memories!
