Congratulations on this nomination for poem of the month.

It's nice to read of your contentedness with life. You are someone to look up to. I'm sure you had many struggles to overcome in life, and I imagine you faced each challenge with strength and dignity. I hope I can dig down deep and follow your example. I'm no spring chicken either lol!

Nice rhythmic lines. Nice use of aabb rhymes.

Good luck in the voting booth. You're a winner in my book just for landing in this category of top notch poems :)

Hello Roy,
And congratulations on being a nominee to Poem of the Month! ;)

This is a very lovely poem (I'm not sure how I missed it the first time, though I seem to miss many somehow)
I'm glad i"m going through all the nominees now...
This is lovely... my favorite part being:

If I could gauge, define success,
I'd be a fool, in fact transgress,
To gain this world but lose my soul
It's only love that makes one whole.

That last line, especially, is so true... i don't know what i'd do without
my loves... my husband, mother, children, best friend, friends...
puppies.. ;)
FS family. :)
You're so right... Once again, congratulations Roy, this is a very worthy
poem, and I'm so pleased for you!

Thanks Roy... (I haven't won a Poem of The Month either), I've come in second and won Story of the Month twice , and got second in Story of the Month (so odd... I never thought I'd do that!)
... I'm a poet! Lol... I'm very grateful, and very blessed. Thanks Roy, and good luck! It's truly an honor to be nominated! ❤️

I once grew dreams on objects seen
And built my life on profit's glean;
But one by one my dreams would stall
Consigned to chance, and doomed to fall... powerful truth, told in rhyming verse.

How wonderful to be able to look back with gratitude and contentment.

God bless you, friend.

Sonali :)

What a wonderful title and message - "Age Becomes Me". The world would be a better place if people were content with their lives whatever the age. Your last line says it all. Well done Roy.

content is a great thing. Wonderful poem of life.

This story is a bit long but wanted to share it with you.

My spiritual direction told me that she used to ask her husband if he was happy. He always said he was content.

Awhile after he died, she felt his presence and heard him say 'Charlotte, Charlotte, I am so happy'. I love that:)

So true, Roy. We should all feel proud to be getting older, .any ailments aside, we should just regard it as another part of the journey called life. Having faith in God and His love is an inspiration to us all!

Hi Roy

Beautifully worded ... I wonder how many of us would say we are perfectly content? Strong reflections here as you reflect on parts of your life... and so much truth and wisdom in your words ... perhaps it takes some trial and tribulations to find the true value ... love and respect.

Some interesting phrasing throughout, yet simple and easy to understand. I love your title. :)) Lovely, lyrical rhyme and rhythm ... your words 'sound' relaxed and at peace with yourself. What a wonderful way to feel at your stage of life, and that "glow" you share so freely. Always love to read your words Roy. God bless. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

Hi Roy,

I love the words, "age becomes me." What a cool way of thinking about it.

The second stanza is very poignant and, again, is presented in an original way. (feet cannot be wrenched from God.)

Very nicely written.

Hugs,
Lou
