Comment from Hawaiian Mermaid
Aloha ATK, A poem by Judy?, it helped me and just might help you.
Aloha,
Hawaiian Mermaid
Don't Look Back
Just keep on walking
A small voice said
Don't dare look back
Look straight ahead
Yes so many things
Have changed
Think they'd stay
As you arranged?
Be strong and brave
Calm your fears
Keep that chin up
Dry your tears.
Yes love hurt
And broke your heart
Keep your head
And heart apart.
Don't cry over
What you have had
At least you had it
Don't be sad.
This will be tough
But time will heal
Perhaps a new life
Will then reveal.
You are not new
To this whole game
You gave your best
You're not to blame.
The hardest thing
There is to do
Is love someone
Who not loves you.
So is it worth it
What's to gain
When you love someone
Who brings you pain?
Just walk away
And stand up tall
Count your blessings
One and all!

Hello TK, I have missed your posts and was very glad to review this amazing penned free verse. I like how you started out using the rear view mirror to reflect back on past romances, mistakes, and judgments . I believe we all can look into that rear view mirror and see things we wish we could change. I pray the ones that can be repaired are repaired. Thanks for sharing an enlightening and enjoyable read. Blessings.. Portia

A sad tale of broken reflections. Sounds like you had to many beers before you sat down. Those broken pieces on the road of life are melancholy. But the scars and bumps, event the broken bones and hearts made you into who you are - a sensitive, and talented guy, with a spence of joy, and a colorful imagination. Sounds like you need a hug, but hey, your a guy, so ill just lunch you on the are, you lug.

This is an intriguing, free-flowing piece. You really dig deep into your emotions for this. You seem to be on a relentless romantic search that leads you to disappointment. Maybe you dwell on romance too much. There are other things in life to experience. Maybe if you weren't so fixated on love, it might come more easily for you. You seem so intense, maybe the loved one feels smothered. I'd better quit before Dear Abby sues me for trying to take her place. Anyhow, beautiful expression in this. judi

Heart felt and very emotional
Nicely done and being away has left no lasting problems for you.
Very well done and called for a second read to miss everything I read over in my exuberance to finish such a wonderful piece.

How very sad when past and present appear to converge and the backlash is like a tsunami destroying all that matters. Love can be a lot like that- from calm oceans to raging seas.
I really felt the honesty within the words which hinted at the sorrow and loss the past destruction had caused.
Yes, I guess we all have rear view mirrors to our past for a reason and we alone can determine how we use them.

Please tell me, reassure me that this has nothing to do with you and the Mermaid. I searched through the Author's notes for a clue, but there was no clear indication of a rift in the world's foundation. Your name may not be Lucy, but Knight you have some 'splainin' to do, so talk to me.

Ah my friend all things at times come to an end..Yes the mermaid and I have come to the conclusion that we do not "sea" eye to eye on a couple of important issues..
The foundation has crumpled. That foundation has become another sand bar in the stream of life that I need now to navigate around...Thank you much for your concern I do value not only your writing skills but you friendship as well Sir Nomi

You are are breaking my heart with this sad news. Two of my very favorite people are separate. I pray that the two of you can remain good and dear friends to each other and to me as well. God bless and God keep you both.

I love the use of the rear view mirror as a reflection of memory. I think this beautifully penned and exceptionally compelling as it makes the reader reflect (no pun intended) and think about living in general. While memories are part of what and who we are, I still prefer the view out the front windshield as it is where we go from now that counts the most. God bless for the wonderful words and the sharing.
