Happy New Year! Your pastor is, of course, correct in his thinking. I will be honest with you, I think the rapture is nonsensical and I, like you, have NO IDEA what will happen. Will we see it? Will we make resurrected when the time comes? Am I going to hell? I don't know. I love God. I love my Faith. I love you horror but I love your honesty even more.
"for icy grips of death have thawed!"
Nicely stated! This actually sounds like horror but it is good news! Isn't our faith filled with horror? The "wailing and gnashing of teeth" and the "Final Judgement?" Our belief systems make this all terrifying because we believe it to by the Truth! Horror is fun because it scares us but the end times are more horrific than anything we can put on paper.
You have captured the faith with this and you have shared the horror of lost children and the final moments of our World as we know it. Excellent job in my opinion. :)

An outstanding poetic portrait of the Rapture done with your usual attention to graphic flare and thoughtful, well-crafted verse. Your Pastor should be rightly pleased by this rendition. Nicely done!

Thanks you so very much, Tom. His exact words were, I'm blown away, Dean!", which I suppose meant that he liked it, LOL. He had to go and embarrass me in front of the entire Sunday evening congregation by reading it. I'm very shy in public forums, not the public speaker type. A few of the wonderful elderly ladies of my church asked if they could buy copies, which I printed out in the Pastor's office, then gave to them. Yes, he enjoyed it quite a bit, Tom, and I'm very happy that you did as well.
Thanks again, my friend.

The end of all times, which I think no one can really know. Your language, and the horror you inject into this is truly astonishing. Read your author notes, and it's funny how one thing, like church will lead to a marvelous poem as such. Really love how you presented this. So perfect. Wish I had a sixer, and it's only Tuesday. Les

Thank you, Les, you're very kind to say so, my friend. I don't worry too much about the ratings, unless it drops below three stars. Then I begin to get a little bit concerned, LOL.
Anyhow, thanks for your most generous rating. I am very pleased that you enjoyed it.

Aw Spooky, you should listen to you pastor a bit more.
This is an extremely vivid and dare I say, generally acknowledged reasonable description of the 'weeping and gnashing of teeth' and I think you outta have your pastor send a copy to Tim LeHaye and Jerry Jenkins.
Who better to write of the real horror of the end times than someone that knows the genre inside and out. Well-penned on this one dear friend.
Your choice of artwork is really complementary as if taken from Biblical accounts, scary but manageable - but the red blood drop brings the reader right smack back to the present and the reality of what we will face.
Let me know what your preacher thinks! Jean

Thanks for this review, Jean, I really am very grateful.
My pastor said he was "blown away!", and I was a bit afraid that for a moment he was going to challenge me to write another. I don't think my delicate constitution could have handled that. Heh-heh...
Thanks again, my friend! :) ~Dean

solid use of abab rhyming
good alliteration in phrases like hung his head
and soft supple
I like the God/thawed proximate rhyme in your closing
a most thoughtful, dramatically presented poem of faith :-) Brooke

I know, Rebekka. It seems no matter how hard I try, and unless it is a poem about my dad, wife, or my Chihuahua, I can't seem to shake the horrific elements. However in my defense, the Bible clearly states in Matthew 27, verse 25; "and tombs opened. The bodies of many godly men and women who had died were raised from the dead."...
Anyhow, thanks so very much for your kind review. :)

Somehow you even managed to inject horror in this:"gnashing teeth and bite" "icy grips of death." Hubby believes in the Rapture, but not I. Hate to think when it ends, it ends.

This is quite a departure from what you usually write, however some of your signature style still comes through. I think this is perfect for the "Rapture" and encompasses what people believe. I hope your Pastor liked it!
