Ah, you do windows doesn't do me much good (I don't care - LOL) but how's your cooking? (I love an international diet, gourmet quality). Be prepared to be very poor if I adopt you though. To give you some idea of how poor, I always make sure to buy my cat's food first - I'd never want her to be without her cookies. (LOL)

On a brighter note, I have generous friends who sent me a VERY wonderful Christmas present early because I'm so broke.

The darker side of that is it's been stolen. I suspect my mail carrier. Unfortunately (and incredibly!) they sent cash. I wouldn't SAY I suspect my mail carrier, because there are several people who handle mail before it gets delivered, but when I talked to him, short of "guilty" written across his forehead, all the signs were there...(sigh)...I wouldn't even begrudge him if I didn't know how much mail carriers are paid...(way more than I made on my best day.)

Anyhow, I'm writing all this because I'm trying to cheer you up before you have no friends left (hahahahaha). XXOO. I luv ya. (And I enjoyed your pis@#!!ng and moaning too.)

Fortunately, my friends have forgiven me and we are talking (calmly) again. The mail carriers down here are notorious about stealing mail, especially mail sent to foreigners. The only way to avoid it is to send it registered but to do that here costs a fortune no matter where it is sent from. Thanks for making me laugh.

Oh, I'm glad I made you laugh. Really, REALLY glad. Now, could you share that with a couple people up here for me? (They're mad at me. LOL)

My God, how horrible. My heart goes out to you, Sasha. This is so unfair. I can't believe a bank would not issue statements and receipts. And it does seem like they don't care. And broken toes on top of it. I wish there were some way I could help... such injustice! You don't deserve all this bad luck, dammit.

I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. My bank is the only bank that doesn't issue statements and receipts. As soon as this mess is cleared up...if it ever is....I plan to change banks. Sadly, I cannot do it sooner.

Sometimes you just have to call a pit just what it is ... a great big PIT! You express the level of crap building up around you well - as usual - and I have to give you credit for NOT going postal so far. I hope Rebeca gets through the red tape jungle and things are resolved soon in your favor.

A few of my friends might disagree about me going postal...I did come very close. She came down on them pretty hard and now they say, after a thorough investigation (ha!) I might get some of the money back. It will take time...one month to six months before I hear their decision. Nothing is quick here in Mexico. At least now I have Rebeca to deal with the bloody red tape. Thanks for the 6 stars, that helps sooth my bruised ego...not much for my broken toes. They hurt like heck!

I think you should be angry. I know I would be angry. This hasn't happen to me yet, but it doesn't mean it won't happen. I hope it won't. I wish you luck in getting your money back. I hope you do. I banged my foot good a few months ago, but didn't break any toes. It was painful to walk for a few weeks. I hope your luck improves.

The bank says it is performing an investigation but I am not holding my breath. They also say I will probably get some (maybe most) of my money back. My foot is still very sore and I am having difficulty walking. I fear it will be several more weeks before there is much improvement. Thanks so much for the 6 stars, that, in itself, makes me feel better.

I, for one, do not like debit cards. Especially when they are attached to my primary bank account. The bank, at least here in the U.S., will refund your money, but after a lengthy process. Been there, done that.

I opened a second bank account and attached a debit card to that. I move money in there in small amounts. If someone wants to run off with it, it won't be much.

Also, if the debit card also functions as a Visa card, I use the credit function as it does not require me to put in my pin number. Money comes out regardless, but there's less chance of someone swiping my number.

Hope this particular trouble will be resolved soon.

Sol

Thank you for the information. That sounds like a wise way to deal with debit cards. I hate them and try to use it as much as possible. The bank says they 'may' refund some of the money that was taken but I won't get a final decision for at least 90 days. Mexico does things very, very slow. I still love it here, I just hate the banks.

My prayers are going out for you. I truly hope Rebeca gets someplace with the bank. I tend to agree bombing the bank might be a good idea, but I have heard Mexican prisons aren't very good.

No, Mexican prisons are horrific and I really don't want to add that to my many experiences in this country. I still love Mexico, I just hate the banks.

Hello:

Hey, look on the bright s...sorry. I can emphasize to a degree as my checking account was emptied and I didn't know about it until an automatic deduction was denied. It is the feeling of helplessness, of being powerless that washes over one in a situation of this nature.

There is very little one can say to assuage how you feel. You are the victim. People who commit crimes of this nature should not only have to make restitution but spend years in prison.

I hope the Bank resolves your issue to your full satisfaction.

Don't let the Bastards get you down.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

Thanks. I am feeling a bit better today and know that the problem will be resolved eventually. However, this is Mexico and nothing ever happens quickly down here. It is just hard being patient. My friends have forgiven me and I thing they have figured out not to try to cheer me up with 'look on the bright side' comments.

Maybe you should just show this to your friends in Mexico and say sorry. I hope to hear a follow up about how it went with Rebeca. Maybe after the follow up we'll talk adoption. LOL

My friends are beginning to talk to me again, I think I'll just avoid the subject with them for the time being...I'm working on the follow up now. Hope to post it by tomorrow.

Sorry, I don't know what to say...and if I did, I might be afraid to say it! :) Saddest thing is that you are disgruntled with Mexico (trusting it's a temporary condition)since you have made so many of us see it differently than the stereotype we might harbor. Truly hope things get better promptly for you...DEnnis

Fortunately I don't usually have much to do with the banks. Everyone complains about them...even the Mexicans. Mexico is truly messed up but still a beautiful country with lovely people. I have been very frustrated lately and this was the proverbial straw for me. I also hope to get this mess straightened out soon, but am not holding my breath. Everything in Mexico is slow, something I've gotten used to.

This is a very powerful story. I like the way you gave the end a little humor about-"I do windows."

Your artwork is excellent. (Smile)

I still love Mazatlan, I just don't much care for their laws...or lack thereof. Every country is different and it takes a while to understand the differences. I am pleased you liked my painting.
