I apologize for taking so long to get to this. I have been preoccupied with personal stuff and not able to find time to review. I have been having a terrible time with my broken toes. It seems it will be several weeks before I can walk normally again. I just need to be more careful. This is an excellent chapter and I am relieved to learn that Diego will be okay. Hughes, the guy from Homeland Security certainly was a rude an obnoxious fellow. If I were Soni, I'd be upset too. Great work with this one.

You never have to apologize for anything. I completely understand how life gets in the way. Thank you for the kind review.

Good chapter that kept the action going. Every story needs a bad guy, and Hughes fills the bill here. Also, in my line of work I knew officers that took themselves too seriously and abused their powers. Reads like Hughes has a personal vendetta against Soni because she stands up to him.
Good mix of characters, and believable dialogue, and an expert hook in the last sentence, who could resist reading the next chapter?

In this chapter we still haven't got all the peyote results yet, still waiting for the hair follicle tests to come back. I am sure they will be negative, unless there is a miss-match or error...which could cause problems... We'll see. The healing crystal has been credited for aiding the dog's recovery.

It's for sure that something isn't right, but you've done a good job of keeping it from us readers while still keeping us wondering. Thanks for another great chapter. :-)

Good going. I am new here. so maybe I should overlook what I am saying. Characters are defined though not from the beginning...thumbs up!

Thank you for dropping by and leaving this kind review. Usually when one received four stars, the author is told what to correct to get five stars. I don't know what to correct.

Hi Barbara:)
Trouble seems to surround the Rockin' A ranch. First Sonni funds a mysterious stranger who has fallen from a bluff and doesn't want to give his whole name, choosing to be known only as Jim. Soni goes along with 'Jimwishes and later when he try to drive his SUV (retrieved from the fall site)away, somebody ambushes him and he is shot. Again Soni helps nurse 'Jim' with her grandfather's help.
The ranch is a place of interest to Homeland Security and in particular, agent Robert Hughes, who clsims that Soni and her Indian relative s illegall used peyote.
When Soni asks 'Jim' why he didn't confirm thsy no drugs were used, he replied, "I don't want anybody to know I'm here."
I think Soni's protection of 'Jim" is a plot weakness. I don't know how to fix it, but no wealthy, responsible ranch owner is likely to help a stranger hide from law enforcement. For all Soni knows, 'Jim' could be a wanted criminal. I think you need to provide a valid reason for hiding 'Jim' from all outsiders.
I continue to enjoy this novel for the many activities and good dialog and character development. More love and Irish Hugs for enjoymnt.

Hello:
The interaction between characters is heightened by the misunderstanding of the Lipan Apaches' culture and the automatic assumptions that all Apaches will us peyote in their rituals.
Dialogue and interaction of and between characters was spot on.
Take care and stay safe,
Ray

Another chapter which I have very much enjoyed reading. I am a dog lover so I am glad Diego is pulling through! The harassment by Hughes is starting to annoy me and I hope he gets what he deserves! This chapter also has a good, natural flow and the storyline is believable. Looking forward to finding out more.

You portray very well the continued harassment of the Native American peoples by certain factions of the federal government. That Hughes had better be prepared to answer to his boss because most NA tribes have top quality lawyers these days. Another fascinating chapter, Barbara. :) Bev
