Hi Sandra
Congratulations on second placement in the Faith Poetry contest. A stunning tribute to your mother and her belief in God extended to her daughter. Wise words and what a legacy to leave you with. Your sonnet is touching and shows your strong loving for your mum and the expression of faith as it really is. Not some over-whelming fanatical belief in an angry God, but a loving, everyday experience, something as simple as the care of one to another and the offer of wisdom which will last with support and guidance for a life-time, and in this case, beyond. Beautiful work Sandra. I loved reading this. Huge hugs - Lovi xoxoxo

Gosh, Lovi, thank you so very much for this wonderful review and the 6 star rating! I really miss my mother, and my father, they were wonderful parents and I loved them so much. I believe we are what our parents make us, they lead and we follow. I have been very lucky in being surrounded by love, my parents, and my sons. Thank you again, my friend, and for the congrats! I wish for you the very best in 2015. Big hugs and much love- Sandra. xsx

Hi Sandra
This is a lovely poem. It's so true that "like children we can easily be led". Nice ABAB rhyming and you relay lovely memories of your mum. I especially liked
....
....
But though she's gone her words I'll always own
Her wisdom calls to me just like a song
"Just have a little faith," my mum would say,
"And pray to God; He'll help you in His way."
A lovely entry for the Faith contest - all the best! (Speak to you soon :))
God bless,
love Christine

This is a very sweet and sentimental poem that is totally appropriate for this time of year when we express gratitude for what has been giving us. Nothing can substitute the unconditional love of a caring mom.

I have enjoyed reading your sonnet and feel all the same emotions when I recall that motherly wisdom bestowed though rarely appreciated in its time.

You are so right, I wish I could have her back, even for a few moments to tell her that. I will always miss her. Thank you so much for your lovely review, Bill, I wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. xsx sandra

Dear Sandra - Those little bits of wisdom handed down can be the glue that holds us together. A wonderful poem for this faith contest, creating so much within every line. I enjoyed it. Good luck in the contest.

That is very true, Maureen, for most of our early years, we are moulded by our mothers. Thank you so very much for your lovely review, and good luck wishes. Happy Thanksgiving, my friend. xsx Sandra

Thank you so much, Teresa. Yes, I was very lucky to have had my mum, so many don't have that luxury, I'm sad to say. Thank you for the good luck wishes, and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, my friend. xsx Sandra

Hello Sandra. I agree about talking with God. Sometimes His wise words fall on my suddenly deaf ears. Are you having a tough time?
Did you recently ask for my address? I feel like you did, but I can't spot the email.
The poem beautifully conveys you missing your mom.

Hello Sue! Where have you been?? I did send you a note, but not to worry, I have found your address now of a pretty envelope you sent me covered with father Christmas labels. It was so nice I couldn't throw it away! I do miss my mum loads, this will be the first Christmas without her. Send me an e-mail, I haven't found that yet, then I will have it. And you can tell me everything that has been going on, and I can tell you what I've been up to. Thank you for your lovely comments on my poem, my friend! So pleased to see you on here, love you lots, Sandra xsx

This is a simple testament to faith through the experience of a loving mother who imbued the voice's life (assumed you) with a sense of God and His munificence.
It is written in sonnet form via good iambic pentameter, abab rhyme, and the traditional fouteen line format.
A lovely, easy to read poem with a tremendous message.
Good luck in the contest.

i am so sorry for your loss!
you have written an eloquent piece of poetic art describing the hollow feeling left without your mother. but faith restores the loss even though i can't imagine how.
thank you for sharing!

No, I have many days when I can't think of my mother without crying. Just selfishness on my part, I suppose. Mum is with my Dad, and that is where she wanted to be. I am comforted by that. Thank you so much for your lovely review, Rebekka, I really appreciate it. :) xsx Sandra
