Nice alliterations and rhyming. Charming portrayal of Jack as a friend. Bold and interesting imagery using an array of scary characters. Good use of sensory... Stairs to creaking, witch's cackle, werewolves...howling:)

Don't know how I missed this one.

Delightful.

I so wish that you would publish your children's stuff ... would love to read it out loud to my grand kids.

Of course, I can always just print it out, but a book would be so much fun.

Another delightful Halloween poem, Brooke. I think Halloween must be your favourite time of the year because I noticed you started early this year. This is a wonderful record of Sawyer's participation, Giddy

Such precious images in Sawyer's montage. Your poem presents a nurturing Jack-O-Lantern instead of a scary one. Its peppy rhythm bounces across the page delightfully. A wonderful Halloween presentation.

Hi Brooke
What is our little Sawyer going to be this Halloween?
I really enjoyed your poem about Jack, the Jack-O'Lantern.
He's a superhero, protecting kids from all sorts of evil monsters. I think you have covered most of them... crows and bats, plants with teeth, vampires with their ungodly fangs, chain-rattling ghosts, cackling witches, howling werewolves, and ghouls.
I like that opening line,
"When crows are congregating"...nice alliteration with "c"
also here,
"rattle rusty chains"
and here,
"scolds them into silence"
and here,
"will warn those witches"
I like the personification and inner rhyme of the Jack-O'Lantern known as Jack.
"Jack always has my back"
Nicely penned for Halloween.
your fan,
Kimbob

He is going to be Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc for one costume and Buzz Lightyear from Toy story for a second costume :-) Miranda is making family costumes for her and Andy so they are a team. LOL
Thanks so much, my friend :-) Brooke

My crafty wife is going to turn our little Alyssa into a zebra! All that remains are the mane and the tail. It will be so cute. I hope to get a picture, and write a poem about it.
Dressing up and pretending are always fun.

This is so fun. I never considered a jack-o-lantern as a protector before, but you make me want to go out and get one and put it as a guard on the doorstep. It has such magical powers. I love the Venus flytrap line.

Jack sure sounds like a great friend for any kid to have. Your poem is imaginative and fun. Isn't fun to look back on Halloween memories of previous years?

Unsubtle threats from a young man with a posse of one -- but a mean one he is, this Jack O'Lantern. Delightfully macho, Brooke. :) nancy

Brooke, I love it. A wonderful poem to celebrate
Halloween for Sawyer. Sweet pictures to show how
he has grown over the past 3 years. Great rhyming
and I'm glad Jack has Sawyer's back.
