I get it. The sad part is that it's so true. Sigh. Menopause can be an ugly thing but so can that "other woman" event.
This moved quickly and effectively. I'm not finding much to put a negative comment on. :)
I must admit that I don't understand David's shame at the end. There is nothing to be ashamed of, that I can see. The photo works nicely with this. :)

Lancellot, this was such a well written storyline. Composed tastefully as the author relates to different points of view. A sure tragedy in a relationship that coyly creeps in after years of life's turmoils. Yet, the sexual relationship is the one that can hold the power of loyalty, acceptance and healing. I find so much the same expressions in mysteries like this.
This is an excellent short story, and I appreciate the fact there was no murder involved. I am sorry that after 20 years there is no attempt at facing the truth.

Personally, I don't think it needed a warning. I thought it was very adult and clean. Sounds like Jill is going through early menopause. How can she expect David to keep his word and she's not putting out. Never give a man an excuse to cheat.

I think that is very good. You took us into the minds of both people and made us feel sorry for each of them. It makes one wish well for the couple, and that the secretary finds her fantasy with someone else...

Tastefully written and I know this happens in real life. It reads more like a portrait of a dead marriage. The inner conflict is there, but I fail to see outer conflict. However, you have a climax (pun intended)and a resolution.
