An enjoyable read. It allows the reader to feel the important of the Hippety Hopper Kangaroo through the eyes of child whose whole being is hungry for a chance on the ride. A snap shot of a child's joy and thrill even if it only cost a dime and lasted a minute.

Thank you for the delightful stroll down memory lane. I remember those machines that used to be in front of the stores. The words that you used "Hippity hopper kangaroo" and Johnny being the "bestest" were a nice touch in making it feel like it was being told by a child.

Cute story of memories of childhood days when things were simpler and people were still allowed to play cowboys games. I have seen all those characters, also, most enjoyable they were, too. Warmly narrated story with cute kids' characters. Good luck in the contest. Faye

How well I remember those horsey rides at the entrance of stores. My mom NEVER let me ride one. Not even once. She said they were a waste of money. We could get a loaf of bread instead. So I guess I should blame her for my mistake of buying a horse. I fell off the second day, sprained my neck and shoulder. While laid up developed crippling spondylitis and now my spine is mostly fused into a bent position. All because my mom wouldn't let me ride Silver.

Wow, what a horrible story. Phyllis. I suppose riding the plastic ponies could never equal a real horse ride, but it sure would have been better for your health! Thanks for reading and taking the time to review.

Hi, IndyIrish,
Gosh, I remember those horses and cars that you rode for a few cents. Thought they were the cat's meow.
I don't think they ever have them anymore. If they do, far and few between.
Fun story!
Cheers & Blessings

Hi Jax. I'm glad you enjoyed my little story, and I appreciate your review and comments. There still are some coin-operated rides around, but as many as when I was young.
Thanks.
