Has anyone ever told you stuff like "I wish I could write like you" ?

I loved your poem.

My favorite verses:

"It's Summer now and how perfection pleases
every sense the smells and sights the life in flight
the trees reach heights all dressed in garish greens
with carpets, rioting colors anarchy reigns
and malarkey seems a sane response
even as the rain does not feel cold
the world does not feel wet"

The phrase "perfection pleases" is just amazing. wow.

My interpretation: All the greenery and faith keep "the world" alive. Even when the weather suggests dullness the negativity is not contagious--sunshine is right around the corner.

A fantastic poem, Mikey.

Hope you win.

hugs

Amanda

Gee. Do you think it has a chance. I came in third a couple times in site contests. I would love to get any mention in a free verse one. I do like this one myself. You picked my favorites to review. I'm so delighted that you liked this one. I loved that paragraph too and felt like a poet when I finished it! I read it out loud with my Orson Welles voice. Hahaha. Of course, you did miss my 5-7-5 Zombie poem. It's award winning. Check out the contests. I just tied with Dean Kuch in a battle to the death. Two warriors battling to a draw. The whole site was hushed!! mikey

Yes! It has a chance!!! Third place is really, really good. I came in third for the last free verse contest. That was almost a year ago.

I will check out your zombie poem!!!!! It's so awesome that you tied with Dean! Dean is really good with the horror stuff. I have written a horror story once..for English class. It's really cheesy. I think I should rewrite it and post it on Fanstory during Halloween or something.

    hugs

This is unlike much of your free Verse- a melding of your lyrical prose and your poetic verve. Such smooth flow (sorry, no other way to describe it) and your rhymes perfectly placed (not intrusive but true to your character's voice), your haiku, breath invading the air, the perfect ending. Your breath will keep the seasons alive. Come to think of it, the heritage of this poem is part haibun. Excellent work.

A magical poem, whilst I was reading I felt it had a beat of it's own, I found it really soothing and quite mystical, I really loved everything about it, your internal rhyme and your poetic wording were very special, there was some great alliteration also, well done , worthy of a six,and of winning the competition it certainly has my vote, good luck,
Andrew

A well done muse with deep poetic phrases, feelings and a well creative structure. Well chosen words of the theme. Your concluding stanza is enticing with imagery of personification.

What a wonderfully descriptive and beautiful piece of free verse Micheal, this gripped me from the start, I particularly liked the Autumn and Winter verses, and your last three lines were inspirational! they sum up the whole poem, I wish I had a six to give my friend.
