This is going to be the one and only Dean Kuch type poem, he laughed when I told him people thought he was encouraging me to write this. I saw the illustration and wondered if I could do anything with it. Thank you for the nice review, my friend.
Yes, Jim reviewed this one for me. He has been struggling with cancer for a while now. But the main reason he hasn't been posting on here is because he has had some horrible remarks from people about his poetry. He is a lovely man but very lonely, he went down hill when his beloved Little Girl,(his dog ) was killed, she was all he had, he doesn't see his family much at all. I've had some long, despairing e-mails from him. I am just so sorry that some people on here think it is clever to put another writers poetry down in a cruel way. Why are people like that, Sonali? I will tell him you are worried, I think in a strange way, it will make him feel a bit better that someone else cares enough to worry about him. We have some wonderful friends on FS, but most of us are thousands of miles apart and can't be of much help when a friend is needed.

My heart aches for Jim, Sandra. Do tell him I've been thinking of him and praying for him. The least talented people are the ones with the biggest egos on this site, I've noticed. Poor Jim. Thank you for updating me.
I haven't been writing much. Getting ready for a mini FS gathering in Sept. A couple of folks are driving down from the US at the end of Sept. and I'm gathering the Toronto FS for two days of jollification! Two others plan to drive in from out of town.
Wish you could come. Anyway, if Jim wouldn't mind passing his e-mail address on to me through you, I'd love to keep in touch with him.

I cannot think of another animal that inspires such fear as a wolf, howling at night and sizing you up for dinner.
This is a really good and scary write. Love your artwork with this one. Liked the flow and the red on black simply added to the feeling of horror.

Hi Sandra - this is very well written and the way you have displayed your work certainly suits the content of your poem. There is something eerie about the sound of wolves howling - creepy. Perfect abab rhyme, good story, and great title. I don't know if this is your creation or not. I have never heard it referred to 'Dead Man's Croon' - but it's very apt. A very good read. Hi Sandra - this is very well written and the way you have displayed your work certainly suits the content of your poem. There is something eerie about the sound of wolves howling - creepy. Perfect abab rhyme, good story, and great title. I don't know if this is your creation or not. I have never heard it referred to 'Dead Man's Croon' - but it's very apt. A very good read. Thank you, Dorothy. No, I made the, 'Dead Man's Croon' up, just seemed to be right, but I have no idea where it came from, my mind does strange things. I'm pleased you enjoyed it, but I don't think I will be writing too many poems in this genre, its not really my style. Thank you again, Dorothy. :) Sandra xx

U-m-m-m-m-m-mmmmmmm... So, the big Alpha Male called in the Calvary on 'em, 'ey Sandra? Good for the wolves, but very bad for the men hunting them, I would suspect.
I liked the imagery you've created with this poem. Darkly deceptive, with a hint of hope for the men at first, yet quickly dashed as more of the devil's wolves were howled in to finish the task the others had started. Sounds as if those wolves will be well-fed for quite some time.

Thanks, Dean. Your wolf looks scarier than mine, where did you find him? I'm so pleased you liked it, I'm afraid a lot of my 'fans' prefer my children's stories, such a shame! I think I could get improve with practice writing this style, it felt good writing it. Perhaps there is a hidden side to me! Bless you for reading it! :) xx

I drew him, Sandra, about five years ago when I was doing illustrations for a book I was working on. He's stored in my flash drives (of which I have about twenty...Ugh!), and I dug him up and resurrected him, just for you. Be careful though. He bites! Heh-heh...

Well, I would like to, but I worry about others saying that I'm "signing" my work, or lacking confidence in my writing, if I do. I may include a story with a few more in the future, the critics and Nay Sayers be damned.

Absolutely! You are a writer, you write what comes from within, be it horror, humour, spiritual, you write them all. Don't you dare be worried what others say! You are you, and I like you that way. (so long as my blood pressure stays within the realms of normal!) xx

Hi Lou, yes, I am going to blame Dean! He hasn't read it, so he'll never know! LOL. I will not be keeping up with the horror poetry, I was only trying to see what I could do for that illustration. Dear Sandra,
Excellent cadence in (mostly) iambic pentameter, the choice of graphic poets, and great strong thumping rhymes, which suit the genre of this poem. Good read.
