So Horatio's plans all went up in smoke with one little kiss. Aw, man, can't a guy just hide in his hole and enjoy a day of peaceful reading. There is always a guest around with another set of plans. This was so funny. Well penned. luv jada

Well, even if the well planned day had gone astray, the kiss was magical, I am sure. And I think that your writing is an inspired bit of magic.

Hi, Brooke
I enjoyed your bit-o-whimsy in this write. But, I also appreciate the lesson portrayed in this verse. "...The best laid plans of mice and men..." Lol. Everyone who walk this planet, must learn to deal with this simple fact of life.
Great picture... it seems the girls always know what they want before we boys catch on. We're just happy when you finally tell us, lol. Thanks for sharing the moment, Bill

"The best laid plans, of mice and men. . ." ;-)
Another sneaky tale of lessons learned in childhood
that reverberate through the rest of our life :-)
Nice one :-)

I enjoyed this poem and the story line, as well the fancy that it holds. The photograph that you supplied for this is also the tops, the expression being priceless.

Love it - love it! I so recognise the situation. I am a great plan maker, but mostly these have to be set aside for unexpected interruptions, most of which are better anyway. I like the rhythm of your work and indeed the whimsy.

Dear Brooke,
It looks to me as though "Horatio" has failed to defend his bridge, but maybe he planned it that way. Very amusing little ode.

cute story on how things don't always go as planned even if they weren't the plans that should have been made. lol
