A werewolf would be larger than an average wolf. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very exciting read. Congratulations on your win.

Thanks, Charlie, and yes, you are absolutely right, a werewolf (in theory) is far larger than the biggest wolf. Poor wolves thought they had themselves an easy meal. Too bad for them the guy turned out to be a lycanthrope, LOL.

    Thanks so much again!

Love this Dean and can absolutely see why it is a winner.

I love the twist at the end - after you led us astray by that bit of misdirection. Well done.

Your graphics are fabulous - where ever do you find them.

Kudos - Jean

Thanks so much, Jean. I appreciate you taking the time to review it.

Most of my pics I get from photobucket.com, but some are my own drawings and artwork. The late Gungalo, she turned me onto the site, and I love it. Best of all, it is completely free!

Thanks again, and have a wonderful evening.

Dean I could sense the ending about mid-point but I just HAD to read further. Your style of telling this tale felt so organic, real to life, rustic and survival based and that drew me in even more!

Loved it!

I'm slow to appreciating wolves, but I think you nudged me along a little more...lol

Great tale and congrats on the contest win!

Thank you, Bill. One reviewer saw fit to give me three stars for my efforts because it felt "unoriginal" to him. He said it was too much like Bram Stoker's Dracula, which tells me he has never read the book. I am glad you enjoyed it, however. I appreciate the feedback and review!

Yeah well, I could see this ending headed my way. But it took till the middle of the story to figure out what and who you were here. This is well written with excellent vocabulary usage and good imagery as well. I enjoyed reading this very Entertaining story line... John

Thank you very much, John. People know the prompt, or the gist of it at least, when going in. That makes it very difficult to disguise your path completely. You know that someone is a werewolf even before you begin to read, there has to be. The prompt dictates it. That being said, I do my utmost to maintain some elements of surprise for my readers, those who care enough to give their time to me by reading and reviewing what I've written. The reader's entertainment is always my primary concern, hence the graphics to help visualize and enhance the story for them...for you.

So, thank you for your time, my friend, although you found it somewhat predictable. I assure you, I do try.

Not a fan of Horror and Thriller genre but this one drew me in with its measured portrayal of vibrant landscapes and throbbing emotions -'forlorn cry of an owl'? Just wondering have you ever visited Romania ? A country I plan to explore.

Thank you, zanya, I truly appreciate the fact that even though you're not a horror buff, you still enjoyed reading this story. In reality, it's not a horror story at all, but more of a lonely man's battle to survive who just also happens to be a werewolf, LOL.

Thanks so much again for the kind comments and six stars.

I like it all the way...and congrats for winning a contest. The artwork is very related. however, i felt you were not that original. It all remember me reading bram strokers dracula..

same style, otherwise it was good

Uh, excuse me, my dear Kashif. But if there were no spelling errors, no grammatical issues, you are not to deduct from a writers ratings unless you have a good reason why. That it seemed "unoriginal" to you is not an adequate reason. I think you might want to go back and see what the rating system is intended to do.

I'm being polite, but believe me when I tell you this. If you do this to some, simply because you felt it was "unoriginal", and make no suggestions to help improve it. They will rake you over the coals.

    Have a great day.
reply by Kashif Ali Abbas on 11-Jul-2014
Like i said, it is too familiar with the style of Bram. So, not original for me, and that doesnt take away all the effort you put in it. cheers mate!

So be it then. Since you feel it is below average, what do you suggest to help improve the story? That's what you're required to do, give suggestions for improvement. I'd love to hear your ideas.
reply by Kashif Ali Abbas on 11-Jul-2014
Well, simply put, i will read your other works and see and digest your readings before i could give suggestions:)

I wanted to congratulate you, it wasn't as scary as I expected. It was so well written, with great descriptions of setting. Your visuals were super, if a bit scary. Well deserved win. Faye

Thank you, Faye. I was going more for suspenseful here, rather than out-right scary. I tried to set up the clash between werewolf and his close brethren, the wolf, without giving away the fact that the man was a werewolf. I hope I pulled it off.

Thanks for the great feedback, and for taking the time to read and review it for me, Faye. I really appreciate the exceptional rating as well.

Well written, and to the prompt, and as winner, obviously quality writing. Excellent. But. Is a human/wolf werewolf a superwolf, or just a wolf, and nourishing? And how does pack-law read about cannibalism?

He's a werewolf, LIJRed. And he didn't want to have to fight off the pack, but knew they would leave him no choice.

Thanks for reading and the great feedback.

Great story, Dean. You spin a spell binding and spooky tale of being hunted and then turning the tables. The poor wolves don't stand a chance.

Congratulations on the deserving win.
