I saw this inspirational piece several days ago. My computer would let me read but not send, but I wanted to come back to this one and let you know now much I enjoyed it.
The theme is a wonderful reminder to keep taking one step at a time and not give up. The meter and rhyme are perfect as always. Delightful picture.

Comment from Shirley E Kennedy
Although a step is not a journey, for some, each step is a milestone, or accomplishment.
Surely these wise words are written with a wealth of wisdom gained from life experience and a reflection on a life of steps taken.
Sawyer seems so courageous as he strides out with confidence.
These very thoughtful quatrains are executed with perfect abcb rhyme.

Thank you for sharing another of Sawyer's beach experiences. I always enjoy your philosophical verses. I admired the rhythmic, rhymed quatrains and the "raindrop" analogy. Many hugs- Joan

"No dream is ever realized/ until it is aspired." - So eloquent! I love these lines. This poem has massive, broad spectrum implications, but your specific details and images (raindrops, the sea, sand, footsteps, etc) keep it grounded and in sharp focus for us. Love, love, love! Thank you for sharing.

Every step takes us closer to our destination.
Taking that first step is essential.
Love the comparison of the sea
Good use of the abcb rhymes
Good use of alliteration
a light hearted poem with a strong message

Lao-tzu said "A journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step", and your poem encapsulates this perfectly. Your comparison of a step with a raindrop, and a journey with the sea was clever, and helped the poem move metaphorically. It sounded wonderful when read aloud, and the picture was the perfect accompaniment to your work.
Blessings,
~ J.

This is exactly the sort of poem i love and wish I had written myself, The way we are taken from the first step to the final footsteps is a way to remind us the reason that we are on this earth, I think the poem and it's whole content flow beautifully and is as near to perfection as possibly could be.

A step is not a journey,
but still it is required.
No dream is ever realized
until it is aspired.
The want for every movement must first be born in one, very thought evoking well written well done

Your poem is inspirational. It reminds us that everything in life is a process, beginning with the first step. Of course, sand stepping Sawyer is the cherry on top.
