Simplicity is often the key to success. The very act of entering with no expectation of creative input, and winning, is the essence of irony.

It was ok I don't see the funny in the poem because one I don't think drinking is funny. Really that is all I can say
I got drunk and THEN-
I entered this DAMN contest

...................five more syllables

This work has reached the exceptional level

Oh my God, this made my day! To say it's funny is an understatement. The layout and artistic presentation are phenomenal - love your large letters and the words you strategically put in caps. Last line was too much. This is a jaw-dropping piece, and I can already congratulate you on the win. And oh, must I tell you that the picture is bomb? It's going to stay with me (lol).

I love the picture. Sometimes it I best when you are in altered state of mind,, especially when you are entering a contest when the rules limit the themes. You have done a good job and stayed within the rules

Hello author, very good, very cute, and funny. I'm glad that you took Ernest Hemingway's advice ... "Write drunk, edit sober." I especially liked:

five more syllables
(quick thinking and creative, i.e. for being "drunk.")

A fun poem. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck. LateBloomer

Sorry I don't quite get the intended humour or the relevance of the last line, but what a great picture-- a selfie maybe? LOL

Pretty sure there is seven there.
the intended humor is that the author is drunk and couldn't think of anything to put in the last line. As it turns out "five more syllables" is five more syllables, which is what he needs to complete his 5-7-5. Not a selfie, I wish I looked that good!! Hahaha.

Sorry Michael, you are quite right about the seven, and I think I need a drink, cheers
