A marvellous melody steve and a delightful childrens poem. Congrats on the win with a resounding message that the funnies are far better to be affected with than the frownies. I'll attest to that and I ensure I have a good belly laugh at least four times a day. That's a good replacement for the old apple a day, me thinks. It's working SO far, anyway. Your vernacular is terrific and that strordin'ry line cracked me up. Your ability to make it look effortlessly slangish and conform to meter correctly is quite admirable.
Well done with this rollocking rhyming entry.
Cheers P

Yeah, I can knock these up with alarming ease - or should that be 'strordin'ry ease? Thinking of gathering my kids' poems together this year and trying to find a publisher.....

A fine piece indeed!
You did well with the rhyming and the steady flow.
But the syllable scheme isn't perfect and so could not win my Six.....But you did very well!
Congratulations on your winning!

Well, thanks for the kind words and the nearly six!

I'm pretty sure you'll find the vast majority of classical poems are far from perfect in syllable count...

Oh my goodness! How lucky could Miss Melody be??
Off to the world where sunnilicious sweet Smileys abound
Her, an her crew, with nary a fret or frumpdumbled frown
to framble and jamble at Smiley Town's Jam-Jamboree!
Whoopie!

I really enjoyed this piece a lot. I think my favorite part were all the made up words. It reminded me of a Dr. Seuss poem. All the rhymes seemed to work perfectly, and I think children would really enjoy this. Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest.
