Hello there DS, justafan here. Stopped by to see what else you have to offer and my goodness... such a talent you are. Congrats on this lovely work of art you have penned sir.
I am learning the poetry game slowly and not tried my hand at a sonnet thus far. Oh wait...I do have one sonnet...it is my only girl...Her name is Sonnette :). She is my work of art. lol.
Hope you won't mind if I become your fan. I love what I am reading and yearn for more :)

Always justafan,
Missy

Hey, Missy, hello. Thank you for the great review. Glad to see you jumped on as a fan. If you ever want to give a sonnet a try or have any questions just give me a shout and I'll try to help out as much as I can and let you in on the little secrets of the sonnet. Once you learn them, they come fairly easy. Have a great day, M. Gab with you later.

    ;)

This is well worth the win. Congrats.

This is an inventive view on writers block. But this poem shows you don't have to worry about that.

The sailboat and the little path it has left is a good metaphor for the mind of the poet/writer and how it sometimes
seems floating out at sea with no aid.

Keep writing

Love this!!!!! it made me go mmmm mmmm mmmm Like I was at a restaurant. Very nice imagery and every stanza flowed perfectly setting up the next quatrain. Great metaphor too. My favorite lines are...

"I'll follow any path the course unveils, and welcome every treasure that awaits"
"I free the helm to drift the open seas, to find what precious gems the muse inspires."

Wow great job you have just inspired me to start writing more Sonnets that are about things other than love.

GREAT JOB KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!

Thank you for the fantastic review, poetbear. You know, I've lived in Florida on and off for many years and the only rime I've been to KW was one time for work. I'll have to check it out some day. I really appreciate the generous stars, friend. I'm glad you liked the piece.

Hello Ron - Congratulations on winning this sonnet contest! Great metaphor - perfect rhyme and iambic meter, throughout. Shakespeare would approve and toast your success. And so,
you're sailing around with a muse that creates vibrant winds
(you're lucky, my muse somehow got frozen in the polar vortex and hasn't unfrozen yet, this year). Nice turn in the 3rd stanza - ah, those woes of windless days (nice alliteration) we hope won't last forever - inspiration could be dining with fishes or seagulls. Wonderful closing couplet where you and muse ponder the moment to sail or toss anchor, both preferable to aimless drifting.

Again, congratulations! Outstanding sonnet that works even without the gorgeous artwork. (don't know how you put such a large photo with the piece? maybe Tom has relaxed the 300 pixel requirement that I size my pics for posting)

Enjoyed the sail, and metaphor. Well done ... ;o) Art

Hey Art, who are you doing, my friend? Thank you for the fantastic review and big sixer. Are you still driving trucks. That's what gives me plenty of alone time with my muse, lol. When I'm driving and in the mood, I can compose away the hours. I really appreciate the generous stars and congrats, Art. I'm humbled. I'm glad you liked the piece. Thank you again. Have a good one, friend.

Thank you for the great review, dp. Yes, every sonnet I've ever read ended with a couplet at the end. So I think so at least. I'm glad you liked the piece, dp.
