Ah, the fearsome "look"--I only had one child, but he mastered it quickly! I enjoyed your perfectly paced rhythm and pure rhymes. Hugs and happy weekend- Joan

Brooke: this could not be more delightful and sure to be one of the most memorable to Sawyer one day when his will is measured and then reminded when it all started! Great one again. Vance

What an absolutely charming poem, such an accurate portrayal of the two-year-old attitude and action....told with love, but also with truth!

Boy, have you ever illuminated a universal truth. I remember my aunt used to argue with her two-year old daughter (actually I think they never stopped throughout the years)and she would never win the argument. I was only 10, but I realized the futility of it. The perfect meter and rhyme of this whimsical, yet insightful poem give it humor and joy along with a little lesson for young mothers.

Oh yes! Another great poem about Sawyer's alter ego. S(It couldn't possibly be him, now could it?)
Great rhyming quatrains, though I did trip up at

but to an order his response

It is correct, but the word order was a bit hard to follow.

Otherwise, a delightful write and a most enjoyable read.
Rose.

Are we in the terrible twos? I have some at the preschool that are in their terrible threes. Kids don't always go by the book.
Great shot and fun poem.

Hi Brooke,
Your well metered and rhymed story brings to mind the expression, "It takes two to tango". This is certainly an inevitable conflict that develops between a growing child and parent...and one the parent must win! These days it's uncertain, at times, who controls the reins of the family. However, this piece also strikes a thought of our opposing governments, and their approach to world politics...the similarities are appalling. I enjoyed this tribute to strength of will...Best wishes, Bill

Oh my! It's those terrible two's Sawyer's mother is experiencing. That's quite a look he's giving her. Miranda must carry a camera around her neck just so she can catch those moments. Your poem is quite true and well written, Brooke.

The terrible twos are usually followed by the unchangeable threes. I liked this poem as it brought back a few memories. This was well written and flowed within its thoughts very smoothly... John

Oh what a delightfully written poem that clearly touched my funny bone in that it is so painfully true, as any parent can attest. When a perfect mug-shot of Sawyer pouting.
