This drew me in from the photo to the last haunting line. The use of the same letter for the words in the second line in each stanza was amazing, something I never encountered before. Edgar Allan Poe would cringe with envy if he read this poem.

I love the picture. I love the poem. I recognized it as Poe's style. You have added your style of a more modern description of hell. I think I like yours better. Great work. Good luck with the contest .

I have dreams like this so I can completely relate. They're not exactly like this but I know what it's like to wake up shaking and crying and it's just bad. Great job

I get a fright every time I look in the mirror in the morning. It is called aging. Aaaaaa. Lol. Enough of that.

I could hear Edgar Allan Poe's poem, "The Raven" in your format. I like so much of the wording. Very clever pairing of words and alliteration throughout.

I enjoyed what you did here and am glad you know Poe's writing so well to be able to use one of his poems as a format. That is quite an undertaking. Nice job.

Blessings,
Maria C.

Only happened to me once, they call it a hangover. lol I enjoyed your description of tossing turning the adjectives of fear how you repulsed at the image. I too hope you never experience again, push the evil aside and take God's hand and go for a walk. Really enjoyed reading it though. Terrie

Great artwork and a great read. Love the gulping, gasping, staggering, stumbling style throughout this scary nightmare and the setting you've used adds to the fear. Good read.

Good write, my friend. That was some dream, I probably would call it a nightmare.
Good alliteration, and great suspense and imagery created.

''And I was soon upstanding;''
I am not sure the verb upstanding was used correctly here, yet I can not say for sure as I know not your thoughts.
All in all, a very good write.
Bravo.

Thanks RGStar. Just had a look in the dictionary and though it isnt quite obvious at frist glance but the word has two meanings - 'erect' being the one I employed here! :) R
