Brooke, the wonders of young children and their literal interpretations keep us in awe and laughing with delight. I enjoy the execution of rhyme and meter so intricately woven in to a simple moment of joy. Well done. :0 GracieAnn

Children delight in the simplest things, creating stories and worlds from everyday objects and events that many adults simply can't understand. I like how you expanded on his imagination and adventure, creating a story of your own from his prompt.
Blessings,

I love the lines in the opening stanza "as creatures huddle from its chills", and "shiver as its raging grows". I also like the imagery that the animals can't outrun the "bitter air", so they cower from it instead.

Your inspiration is delightful, but the poem itself is marvellous. I love the canter and flow of the meter, the visual images it inspires, the perfect rhyme, the personification of the wind, and the enjambment and alliteration. The whole of it adds up to an exceptional poem that is easy to read to enjoy, and to digest.

The strangest things grab kids attention, and to know and say "wind" is awesome. Home Depot could be a babysitter for them. Like the lottery says, "hey, you never know"!
Good poem inspired by your favorite subject...

And at Target it is the ele-waiter that drives him to ecstasy. LOL
Thanks so much, John :-) Brooke

Ele-waiter... That's awesome. It's like having a free amusement park !

exactly - this kid has been to Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo, a couple of the state's most expensive venues, but I don't think he had more fun there than he has at Home Depot and Target. LOL

I'm sure you'll make your mark
eventually! I love the continuation
of this little piece, and the tale
behind it. Your poetry always has
a meaning is never hard to understand.

A lovely poem about the wind that does blend nicely with your photograph of Sawyer expressing "the wind" in the store. Thanks to your notes they certainly do blend well.

I like the way you have personified Wind and given his name a capital letter. I love the enjambement in the second verse and , as always, your originality. Stunning.

Great poem for this time of year. We have plenty of freezing winds here in the mid-south this year. Coldest winter in a long time.
Back to your poem. Perfectly done!
