You write with an intense open heart and deep understanding of the homeless and your reaction to them. Many times, I have said that the poor in America is seen as well-off or even rich in other countries. American poor have computers, cell phones, food banks, thrift shops, assistance from the government for food and shelter and in some cases, HDTV.

Thank you for writing and sharing this message with us. And, I'll make sure to count my blessings as well.

The truly poor have become invisible. People pass them on the street everyday but often won't even make eye contact. They don't want to know they are there. They are everywhere, not just here in Mexico. Thank you so much for your heartfelt review, I sincerely appreciate it.

HI Smurphgirl,

Congrats on placing 2nd in the contest! You deserve it! :)
This was a very poignant story. It's sad that so many are homeless and live in abject poverty. It makes us realize how fortunate we truly are. God bless you for looking out for that old lady.

Have a great day!

Regards,
Namratha

She has become a significant part of my daily life. When I don't see her, I worry but she always turns up eventually. Mexico is a very poor country and they are trying so hard to catch up, but it is not easy.

No matter how rough life gets, how discouraged we get, there always someone who proudly carries on the best they can and grateful for what they have.
Terrific writing, as usual. The reader can "see" the old lady and feel as you did. I'm so happy to be reviewing your wonderful work again.

Hi,
For me this is a beautifully written story. Every new sentence made me want more and you delivered. It really puts you in your place to see poor people who have nothing but the clothes on their back. You have become a blessing for her, and God bless you too. I'd love to see some of your art too. Namste, Debbie

What an interesting story! A lovely way to help without insulting her dignity. Thank you for sharing, I am so surprised there are no government run agencies to help.

Beautifully and tenderly written. It touched me deeper than most stories on this site. It is a true case, of There but for the grace of God.. Thank you.

This is such an awesome story and I love how God has used you to be His hand extended, that's really what it's all about. Do they have such a thing as a pup tent there. I think they are cheap and something she could keep in her cart. God bless you for being a blessing to her. Excellent piece.

hello Smurphy. This is an extraordinary tale and what I like the best about it, is that we can actually see and know this homeless woman through your brilliant descriptive text. I think it is some of the best writing from you I've seen. Love it. Good luck in your contest. You will have my vote. xoxo Kiwi

Good morning,
I just finished your short story and have to say I am impressed. When I read someone's work, I like to look at their profile, and you have one heck of one. As I read this, I thought about homeless people here, in the US and around the world. I've been to Mexico and several other countries and have to agree with you. Very beautiful story, filled with sorrow. Most of the time people look for closure in a story, and you provided it, sad but true. This is a story that will touch the hearts of many. You have my vote.
Great story, great writing.

I admire your great story and wish you the very best in the contest. We are so very fortunate. However, may we always gain examples from women of strength and survival. Thank you for sharing your food and heart with this woman.
:-) Carolyn
