Boy, can I relate to what you're going through here.

"My life seems too one dimensional and routine. Please don't get me wrong, routine is good sometimes."

Routines can be good, but when they're overdone it's a chore (boring enough to make a boar snore, as I like to say). Sunday church routines are what get me: Drive to parking lot, find a place in the building, shake hands with greeters, sing four songs, sit for announcements, do the meet-and-greet, hear a sermon, then do the benediction... That stuff's not bad, but please! My heart begs for variety.

My husband and I talk alot about breaking free from routines. As children grow, I want to go - out of the nest, out of the house (which I have referred to more than once as a "pressure cooker")

"Sometimes I feel imprisoned with my life" - I don't think that's how our lives are meant to be.

"Have I been trying to fill myeslf up with food because I'm craving more variety in my soul?" Perhaps. Maybe you've been experiencing the frustration of the "lukewarm" as epitomized in the Laodicean church in Revelation chapter 3. Perhaps part of the void is spiritual, a deeper hunger for God.

I noticed the quote by your name: "He leads me beside still waters," but perhaps like me you find those waters too still right now. It seems there's something stirring inside of you - a calling perhaps, a desire God has placed in your heart. Perhaps like Peter, you'd rather walk on water than sit in the boat. I feel that too. Pay attention to the dreams you have at night; they may contain messages from heaven. As God to show you what they mean.

He hasn't called any of us to be plain and routine. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. The one who believes will do the same works Jesus did, and even greater ones. It's in the book of John.

You ask a lot of great questions in this. God bless you as you figure it all out.

Thank you flamingbush for your keen preceptive review. Yes, I do think God is calling me to "something" else. I'm just not sure what...but I know in whom I believe and trust Him to give me the answers I seek.

You're very welcome. I hear you loud and clear. I too have areas where I feel a bit uncertain what God is wanting me to do. Thanks so much for your honesty.

A wandering star , we all want to be. If everyone is a wandering star, just imagine what the world will become? Chaos or incoherence. There will be no businesses to service our needs, no sewerage to take away the smelly stuff, no clean water to drink..now we understand what selfishness begets, LOL.
Life is always a twist cos once we hit the road, the bad will rear its ugly head..no toilets, clean water, good delicious home cooked meals, out in the wild and cold...a wondering star - looking at the night skies and start to see stars - not in the skies but stars circling around our heads..that's what wondering circling stars meant, perhaps? For the adventurous, it's a wonderful thought. Reminds me of living in tents as a scout, LOL.
Wondering Stars, anyone? LOL. Good write and day dreaming philosophy - suitable only to a special few. Away from the norms, the boring and the insipid mundane lifestyles. Good write..now I don't mind being a Star once in a while but wandering? Nope, more like wondering stars! LOL. Cheers.

Thank you for your review. You are so right...some people are geared to wander and others to wonder. Wandering is not for everyone...in fact for a very few as you stated. But for the few that wish to wander and instead have to stay "bound" by convention, money, time, or whatever...life can sometimes be frustrating. On those days I can only daydream.

Wow, 39 years! Whew! Nah, 70 is still stong as a young horse to pull the bandwager for the wandering Stars, LOL. Dun worry, I can do the washing and the dishes. Please take me along, LOL. may the two of you live together for another 39 years and by that time, we are all too old. Cheers. Ritchie the cheeszzz.

Interesting reflections on wanderlust. Why do we always think that the grass is greener on the other side? Something lacking in our lives? In us? Or maybe it actually IS greener over there ...

Thank you Rondeno for your review. I'm afraid I know the grass is not greener on the other side. My desire is just to see it for myself and experience whatever life has to offer from the encounter.

I loved this!!! AWESOME! My husband and I both are going through a similar experience. We had decided quite some time ago that when he retired we were going to swap our house for a boat, go live aboard and take off to different place every weekend, or perhaps if our 401 would have made it through the recession, we could take off for weeks at a time.

Now that the recession has robbed us of the resale value of our home and wreaked havoc on our retirement, we too, are trying to find a way to do something like it...

To soothe my cravings I decided to write a book about a girl (me) who ditches everything and takes off. I am now living vicariously through her...

Good for you jjstar for finding an outlet for your wanderlust. The idea of a boat never thrilled me. Too many memories as a child sitting in a lake with my dad's boat broke down. LOL. We also have been hit by the recession and now will only plan to travel occassionally for short periods. That will be okay with me. I love my home...I just like to break up the routine and see what's around the mountain. :o)

This is a wonderful piece, my friend. It reminds me of how I felt when I watched a documentary about a family in Hawaii who lived in an RV, and they home-schooled their kids and basically lived as a surfer family, hitting the waves everyday, living each day as they came. I envied them. The freedom. The free spirit. They seemed to be one with nature and very, very happy.

I totally get what you're saying with this post.

I'm glad you could relate to my piece Edward. I also saw the same documentary. I grew up in the "Hippie era" and it also sparked a longing in me, too. Of course, the reality of it might not have been as good as I thought but I sure liked the thought. Have you seen "RV" with Robin Williams? I Loved that couple with the children that lived full-time in their beautiful red and white RV.

Your musing was interesting and well written. It does seem that you lack a bit of imagination -- reading about travel adventures and living through others and making definite plans of where you want to go when the time comes should fill your time until retirement and the freedom to roam.
