This is so funny. I needed a break from overly serious everything else. I like the paragraph about vampires now being our friends but to keep giving zombies a wide berth. I avoid zombie movies as much as, well, zombie movies.

Thanks CC for having a look at this old piece. I actually had this published on a humor sight called Points In Case. Glad you got a giggle or two out of it. It was meant o be a joke about movie cliches...TKF

I love the story. I love the author notes. Your girl friend made you do it? Hum. I loved the cliches. I especially like the part about every thing getting resolved in two hours. Movie length long. Great work.

The mechanics of your writing was good, but I didn't find you humorous. You poked fun at numerous movie cliches. Though you said you loved movie cliches, the reason they are cliches is because they are passe. Half way through reading this I got quite bored. Much of what you wrote about I either couldn't relate to it, or your treatment of it was too macabre for my taste.

That should be: "The mechanics of your writing were good". Sorry my little piece wasn't your cup of tea W2I. You can't win em all, I guess. Better luck next time. I don't know if you've ever tried to do any humor or satire, but believe me, it's harder than it looks. What constitutes funny tends to be subjective by definition. Thanks anyway...TKF

Just curious, what's the funniest thing you ever read? I'd like to read it.

You're right. Humor is hard to write and very subjective. I thought the funniest entry for the contest was "First Alert."

TK You are a unique talent filling all of us with a roadmap through life on the satirical side for which we give you tons of laughter and admire your enviable typing skills which accelerate as you proceed. Be generous with us mortals. Have you thought of being a standup comedian.

Thank you Allen, coming from you, it means a lot because I really respect your writing talent. I did indeed do some stand-up, but here in big D the venues are severely limited. As for my typing skills, I never learned. I hunt and peck and make a ton of typos. My talent lies in re-writing, which I do to the point of insanity.
My purpose in these humor pieces is simply to get some laughs. To make each line as humorous as possible.Otherwise, in this video game, ADD culture, the reader loses interest. Few have the patience to read anything longer than a tweet. I just finished a seven hundred page novel (Drood by Dan Simmons). Anyway, you and me are old school. Our numbers are few. Thanks form the encouragement, I really appreciate it...TKF

Hello TK Field. Wow..I'm speechless. I absolutely balled laughing out loud reading your masterpiece here. I felt like I was watching the introduction to some new Television show. I could actually hear the voice of Dexter to this. Don't know why. I loved your call about Lifetime..heh heh Hoorah. Excellent job. Cheers.

Thank you very much BV, especially since it was your review that put me over the top for an All Time Best certificate! I think I'm going to turn this into a monologue of some kind. This was indeed my magnum opus. Masterpiece? Time will be the judge. I really appreciate the great comments. TKF

I loved this. You've put into words every cliche and stupid thing we movie goers have talked about for years. Even films for so-called adults have become cartoonish. What mere human male could ever hope to stand up to the likes of Sly Stallone and Bruce Willis? The only thing I didn't see was the fact that in horror flicks the lone black guy was usually the first to die, now he's the hero. Great piece.

Thank you R. Please forgive the lag getting back to you on this, but I've been super distracted lately. Any-hoo, good point about the black guy. Like I said, I'm already working on the sequel. Stay tuned. I really appreciate the sixer and the great comments...TKF

Ha! I am actually giggling right now. My favorite, being a chick, is number 12...way too true. This was a fantastic tribute to the infamous movie cliches we all grow to love/hate. I know you'll do great in the contest. Good luck....and By the way, no one is going to buy that story about your girlfriend making you do it! :-)cinamon

This story paints a picture of life that would make a mummy want to crawl back into its tomb. I guess I haven't seen enough movies to understand all that was thrown at me in this writing. It brings me to the conclusion that life is too dangerous to live, but I have grown fond of it in spite of the movies. Whatever happened to "Leave it to Beaver?" The Bev must have been eaten by a crocagator or some such. I just burned my season pass to the local movie theater and buried the ashes.

Well done,
Curtis

I loved it! You had me laughing all the way through. Not only have you observed with acuity all of those movies we all know so well, but you have the talent with words to burlesque those movie cliches unmercifully. I honestly didn't want the article to come to an end!
