Just when I am out of sixes. This made me laugh even as I read it on the "morning after". Guess God is showing me lamenting can be turned to laughing. You actually make this stuff sound pretty good.

I don't worry about sixes! In fact I am one of the few here that let standard members review me. If something seems out of whack with a review, I investigate who they are and assign a motivation, usually by checking out their reviews on others. What I enjoy is finding the criticisms I am actually seeking, but boy what a lift up when I find such a lament as yours! I am not exactly happy with the sixer rules here either.

There was a noticeable lag in reviewing this and I honestly people were worried it would be perceived as anti-Semitic. I only had that charge leveled at me once and replied, "If I was Jewish, I would be called a comic!" Within the religion there is a certain self-deprecating humor. I perceive this in two veins, one is it keeps it real, and the other to remind us to enjoy life.

I would mail you a frozen sample, but it all got eaten. To me it is good and I actually tried it before my father's pickled herring. Definitely an aquired taste as it has the foreign quality of being that, "fishy meatball." I was shocked at the Jewish response which stated I made the best they ever had.

My favorite was, dealing with Marylander's how said they would never eat gefilte fish. I put on my pouty face and say, "... But it's made with Rockfish!" While this made them even more prejudiced, they had to try it and in fact asked for another declaring it pretty good! The poet is as much an adventurer as a person exploring the new realms the world presents.

I prefer you laughing then lamenting. I have done enough of this lately and blame Eve. I thank you for the compliments and this review, it was a definite pick-me-upper!

Hi Mike,

I don't care how you make Gefilt fish, I ain't eatin any! With that out of the way I really enjoyed reading this humorous poem and both pictures are priceless. You have laced this poem with some rhyme which makes it even more charming. You have chosen expressive words and your phrasing is impeccable. Well done....chey

The funny thing is, those unwilling to try it, but do ... Always take a second serving and really like it. I used rockfish and trout for mine, and most Marylanders love rockfish. It was an adventure and a bit of a sacrifice, yet worth it and ironically provides me with experiences that I may use to cap off a variety of themes in the biography.

I thank you for such a generous rating, the compliments, observations and this wonderful review. Mike

I love freestyle, but do find that a little rhyme and meter, makes it that much more enjoyable.

I have always wondered what gefilte fish actually is. I have wondered but not enough to research it. The poem helps, but even after the video; I'm still not sure. I guess it can go on my research list, which is already quite long. I was an interesting read.

Basically it is chopped or ground fish which has things added to it, which are usually a little onion, sugar, matza meal (cracker crumbs, or in my case eggs. Some bake it like a loaf, other form it into meatballs or loaf and poach it in a fish stock. That simple, but when chilled the broth is gelled. The jared version is rather bland.

I am glad I helped out a bit and thank you for the compliments and this review. Mike

Made me laugh...N0w I know more about Gefilte Fish than I ever wanted to. I had a difficult time with the meter at the end because the beginning was so structured. It seemed the telling of the "story" became mor.e important than the mechanics. Just an opinion. Other wise funny.

I actually did. I like this style of poem as it is more like music notes on a sheet, but is more loser in form so the story doesn't get lost.

I thank you for the compliments and this review. Mike

Reading this i felt like I was at my dad's place. He is a big fisherman. He would clean his fish in the kitchen if my mother wasn't looking. This is a well told story. But yuk!!!! Very well written

Understandable review and is shared by many. I thank you for it and the compliments.

I like the self portrait, as it may make it a little less boring as it ties into the last line and who the wife would really want to club over the head with her rolling pin. The poetry discussion group suggested that I continue my conversion, but offer the museum the event of my circumcism. While that would pack them in, it would get me clubbed over the head by the program director, so I was happy to inform them my parents made the decision for me.

Entertaining poem. I admit I was going to say something on the "Dafe" but since you already recognized it, there was no sense. Honestly, knowing some Jewish people, it could've very well been a word.

This poem made me giggle and keep reading, thanks for this work.

I love this review and thank you for it and the compliments very much. I did question my motives as one was a bit of lazy creativity, but the wonderful thing about Yiddish is, neither Gentile or Jewish person always gets it right, but Yiddish also usually involves it's use in humor.
