This is a very moving story. You capture the love and hardship between people like this beautifully. This is well written and holds the reader til the end. Good work here.

I enjoyed your story. Your dialog pulled me into the story. I could feel the pain of being torn between what was and what is. I cannot offer feedback on the situation, but think writing may be a healthy outlet. Thank you for sharing!

I thoroughly enjoyed this piece of writing. I don't have much experience on writing myself, its good to be able to see others style and use of language. The words and descriptions you have used fit together well. Im looking forward to reading more from you. Thanks for

Thank you. Here's some advice on writing. Listen to what's in your head. Worry less about grammar and more about the story.

Aww you know what people really want, for Lane to come out. The old Lane. ORRRR You could do another story on their next life, and how good it was. Enjoyed this story so much! Usually I do not review the stories (Some of them I start and just cannot keep reading) The fact that I finished this says something about your great skill!

I'm not in the same situation, but thought I might be a couple of years ago following my wife's heart surgery. The anesthesia caused something called Post Operative Cognitive Dysfunction, not uncommon in older folks. My wife exhibited the same kinds of behaviors that one sees in those with Alzheimer's. Fortunately the effects of POCD wear off after a while, but not until after I had a scare.
As a caregiver, you, or the wife in the story, fall into the category of modern day saints. I am of the opinion that Alzheimers is the cruelest of all diseases, affecting not only the patient but the entire family.
I find your story both sad and sweet, and well told.

The wife in the story may be a saint, but I am not. I'm glad things worked out better for your wife and you though. Thank you for the kind words.

This is so beautiful, GWHARGIS. You tell a straight-forward story without any embellishment. The conversation between the narrator and Lane is very compelling and moves the story along. You clearly show Lane's condition and how he now speaks. Referring to the before and after Lane is wonderful. Both the narrator and Lane show a lot of courage and optimism that they'll finish "ever after" together. It' wonderful to see the wife's care and devotion. Very touching. judiverse

If I had them to give, I would give you six stars for this. This is such a touching story. I've never dealt with someone who's brain damaged, but I helped my mother take care of my grandfather who lost who he was because of arterial sclerosis and dementia. He slowly slipped into the past and could remember things years ago, but not know who we were. It's very difficult to take care of someone long term. We did it for two years. In this story, it appears Allie has years ahead of her. I think you have portrayed the frustration, loneliness, and helplessness of the situation very accurately. It's heartwrenching to see someone you love in that condition. Good writing. The pace flows nicely . . . dialogue moves the story . . . dialogue for Lane very believable. He is a child. A sweet, lovable child.

Your notes indicate this story may be based on fact. A difficult way to live, but love is love and duty is duty. It seems your protagonist has made a compromise that works for her. Well done. :) nancy

Well, close. But my loved one came out of it. Luckily. This is beautifully written...and VERY sad. I send my best to you and your husband and I wish I could make him better for you. I thank you too, for sharing this horrendous tragedy. Hug, Susan
