Hi Nancy,

I liked the short tale you've told here. Excellent use of rhyming and consistent meter make the words flow well. I liked the strong imagery as well. Fine presentation of your work as well. I enjoyed reading it.

This is an excellent poem, Nancy. I'm sure this is the story of many women whose men went to sea and didn't come back. A hard life.

I think in those days, though, there'd have to be a wedding ring first or it would be a huge scandal. The image is very nice and works perfectly with your theme. Marilyn

~Lover's Leap~, is an extremely well-written and heart-wrenching piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. To me, this is a six, but unfortunately I only have fives left.

This ballad-style poem is very well-written and moving, telling of great
tragedies and misery--ending with the taking of two lives as she threw herself into the sea.

Very interesting poem. I loved the story behind the poem. Back then it would have been an embarrassment to be pregnant and unmarried.
The picture chosen for your poem fits perfectly for this poem.

This is an excellent posting all the way through. The photograph speaks volumes all by itself. Placed together, this is a superb posting that I wish I could rate with more stars...and would if I had any left. I can't find anything in need of correction.

You have portrayed the waiting, wondering woman so clearly for the reader... then her tragic decision to jump, with the repeat line a mournful echo. On the coastline where I live there is a headland called Lover's Leap; makes me wonder if there are tragic tales to be told.

I wonder how many girls have been compelled to do that after an affair with someone who didn't keep his promise. Beautifully written in tetrametric quatrains with a concluding rhyming couplet. A superb job you've made of this dear Nancy, the writing is very smooth, a delight to read in abcb rhyming, well done, blessings, Roy

Hello Nancy. You picked a great picture for the poem but it is the words of the poem that Kerry the message. That is a haunting message and you did a fine job with rhyme and meter. I love ballads that is a great ballad poem. Robert

A very well-written poem about the girl that's waiting for her sailor to return. When she find out she has a baby on the way she could not go further without her sailor who seems not going to return then she jumops in the ocean.
