I like your line "repetition reigns" because it is so true. It always is the same with politics, nothing new. Excellent haiku.

Thanks mermaids. You're so right about politics. Always the same.

Well, Shari, I understand the meaning of this piece, but to be completely honest I'm appalled by all the 'one liners' all those Republican (especially tea party) politicians throw out so the masses can understand. I'm not voicing a pro or con with regard to Obama, but I am stating that I respect people who articulate well. Hugs, Lou

All parties are fighting dirty, Lou. He does articulate well, but he has a speech writer and a prompter too. Just as most politicians do. Hugs, Shari

Political senryu. ;) This proves material for inspiration abounds if we have the talent to select the right words and run with it. The quote is great. Brings one to mind by Anton Chekhov: "Brevity is the sister of talent" - I've said before you have a great talent for these brief poems.

Thanks Elly. Never heard the Chekhov quote. He has it right. So many writers go on and on and on and ... well, you get the idea.

I get the idea, yes! LOL

Barack fails to see
brevity's the soul of wit
repetition reigns

I think people expected too much of this one
man and just as most all politicians do, he
makes mistakes. It is just the same with our
present leader (UK) they thought him marvellous
in the beginning, but he's not held in great
esteem now.

Well penned, my friend.

Thank you Marageret. It's a tough office to fill. It sure has aged him. Don't know why anyone would want the job.

Ah, methinks thou art being clever.
'repetition reigns' is a brilliant commentary
on Obama's evangalistic style of oration (I guess I'm not the soul of wit, either).
Speaking as an old ad man and songwriter, though,
I know exactly what he's doing.

A lie spoken, is a lie.
A lie repeated is the truth. And you can quote me on that.

Peace, Lee

Well, is what you say it true, then Obama always speaks the truth. Would be a nice hope. Thanks for you input, my wise friend.

Oh, I wasn't making a political statement. I was just trying to be folksy. Politics gives me hiccups. I gave up being an activist in the early 70's. Now I am an active in-activist. Lee

Me too! My husband follows politics and interrupts my writing every 15 minutes for the latest dirt. Ha,ha.

I am a Canadian so in order to undestand I replaced Barack's name with our Prime Minister. I understand completely.

I do not rate this for content, necessarily, as I am not sure I cannot fully agree with the message-I'm really not into politics and all; but as far as structure, a very good use of artwork, and tieing everything together, I think you have done excellent work. Thanks for sharing your insights into our Commander-in-Chief's "shortcomings".

I suspect it's true of many politicians and do try to find something good in Obama's presidency. A good reviewer(you) puts aside personal feelings and goes into objective mode. Thank you for that.
reply by krazykats2011 on 26-Jan-2012
You have to do that, I found-especially if the view isn't shared

Hi, Shari.

I don't know much about American politics, being a Brit, but I have a nice feeling about Obama. At least he seems to have a heart in such things as more available free medical care, and doesn't seem such a war-monger as some of his apparently selfish and nasty Republican forebear opponents.

Mind you, I can't understand why he's referred to by some as 'black' when he's of mixed race, but that's by the way.

Hey, maybe I could do with more 'brevity' and 'wit' in this review. :-)

Best wishes, earl

Thanks for putting aside your personal feelings to rate this. I enjoyed hearing your views and like to believe that an angel is guiding Obama and maybe he's right after all.

I love Shakespeare and cried when I visited the house he was born. Maybe I was a bar maid secretly in love with him, or better yet, maybe I was Anne Hathaway and gave birth to Hamlet!
Wouldn't that be a romantic reincarnation story.
reply by the blue pixel on 27-Jan-2012
Yes it would sf and now you have the subject of another poem. lol xx Pix
