This poem is wonderful, I love the history shown. The title is great, I had to read it. Descriptions were very detailed and only needed a few words to do it in. I like how you were able to incorporate the "black men still watch from desert sand" in the first and last stanzas.

An excellent poem that teaches so much. The images that evokes are strong, particularly those of "black men watched from desert sand." I can visualize them watching with curiosity and dismay the white intruders of their "sacred land".

"horses proved unsuitable in the early days, many whites died from thirst after their horses dropped dead in the dreadful heat'... wow! Interesting and a little known fact! At least I don't think too many people know of this... I enjoyed your poem! Hugs, Jack xxxxxxx

Loved this in every way, and especially the end rhymes because I didn't even realise they were there until the second reading. This reads *great* aloud. Really enjoyed the change of tempo in the third verse, and that whole verse itself. The symbolisms thru invasion by foreigners, on foreign camels, was excellent. Beautifully put together piece, Kay. It says a lot about the 'advancement' of mankind, that's for sure. Well stated. Cheers. Alyx.

G'day possum, Thanks for reading. Funny part now, we are slaughtering camels in the wild and sending them to Afghanistan! My, how things change! Happy New Year mate. It's raining today (Sunday) Hooray. Avagoodweekend, Luv, Kay.

G'day, Kay mate. Yep, I sometimes think the Aus government's mentality is about equal to that of a cane toads when it comes to our ecology. Some are just as bloody toxic as the toads, too. It's about to rain here as well. There goes the landscaping idea. Gee, I'll just have to amuse myself and ... write? Heh, Happy New Year, buddy. Alyx XX

Aussie, the six stars are not because I think of you as a friend. I give them to this poem because the poem is worthy of six stars. What's nice is that everyone learns something from your work. The presentation is great in construction, words are alive and rhymes aren't forced. Thank you for this interesting poem!
