You deserve more than dessert .. you deserve a whole box of Ferrere Roche!
This is certainly a poem full of great wit. It must have taken ages to gather this many precious tidbits. I just loved every bit of this .... what 39? Yikes, I'll take your word for it ... I'd loose count every time I chuckled.:)
Not only genius level unique phrases to match those clever little idioms, you have managed to rhyme and with great meter.
A fine bit of scintillation in my day ... I admire your quick-wittiness ..... ah I dream to write humor this well. Great work and an outstanding poem worthy of the win. I wish I had a six left. Warm Regards - :) Lovinia xoxo

    Thanks, again.
I certainly seem to have a knack for writing these lighthearted pieces and no, it didn't take long. I resorted to google to find a few more suitable phrases, but the whole thing wouldn't have taken more than an hour.

Thanks again for the enthusiastic review - I appreciate it.

Bravo and well done for the win! I LOVED this one. Isn't playing around with cliches and idioms the best? I've written a few over the years. My favorite was using all cliches using numbers from one to ten and back again! This was a blast to read. A clever, funny write, Steve! BRAVO!

Thank you - yes, this was fun.
The numbers one would be good as well. Speaking of numbers, I have just been watching Victor Borge on YouTube doing his inflationary story, where you put all the numbers up by one - you're looking twoderful threenight... Brilliant!

I saw Victor live when Kennedy was running for president. I was just a kid and had to beg my parents to let me go to the city and stay up so late! Yes, he was brilliant!

Ha ha! This is brilliant! Mind you, I expect no less from you. LOL
Love the cleverness and humour. Thank you for entering this contest, and I'm especially glad you learned something new!
(PS I tried to review this on Saturday but it wouldn't let me give you 6 stars even though I had several??)

Congratulations on a well deserved win - Cally :)

Thanks, Cally - I still think I subverted the contest intentions a little, but the voters didn't mind.
I thought the six star thing must be because you had recently given me a six, but I can't spot it... that's usually the cause.
Just hitting my straps in these contests you know - oops, there's another idiom...

No, I don't think so. If I had written an entry, I too would have used more than one ;)

Your poem is filled with wonderful similes and to each one is aware that given the opportunity they would stand staunch and mighty against the odds.

You did great using so many of them. There are a lot of idioms and you put quite a few together to make a great poem. I see you used a picture for the cats and dogs. They have a bad day when it is raining men and women. Good work.

Your poem, Idiomatic Fanatic, is superb! You used 39 idioms in your poem. Most of these I have heard all my life. They make things fun. Did you know where some of these come from? That really makes them interesting. Raining Cats and Dogs is from when roofs were made of hay and the animals used to get up there to stay warm and dry. When it rained they would literally fall out. So they said it was raining cats and dogs!
